PM: Govt intervention should be minimal in National Education Policy

PM Narendra Modi addressed a Governors’ Conference regarding National Education Policy (NEP). He said the government would not play a huge role in shaping NEP. As it “belongs to everyone”. He further added, “As foreign policy (or) defense policy are of the country, not the government, so is education policy.” 

IIT-Kharagpur to remain shut till Sept 13 to contain the spread of virus

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has chosen to be closed for a week. The campus will remain shut from September 6 to 13 because of the spread of COVID cases on Campus. The decision was made after many staff members at BC Roy Technology Hospital were tested COVID positive. 

India 4th in the world to successfully develop and test hypersonic technology

India has successfully tested the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV). By doing so we are the fourth country in the world after the US, Russia and China. Our Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has accomplished a highly complex task that will help us with Hypersonic vehicles in the near future.

Vodafone and Idea have launched their unified brand with the name “Vi”. The merger of the two telecom brands comes after the SC’s verdict. This merger is the largest telecom merger in the world as was said by Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea Ltd. The new network will serve to a billion Indians a 4G experience.

Chidambaram calls SBI’s Retirement Scheme ‘Cruel’

P Chidambaram, the Congress leader, has claimed that the State Bank of India’s (SBI) plan to implement a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) at a time when the economy is negatively impacted due to the pandemic. He chose to describe it as “cruel”. He has stated that even under normal circumstances the plan would be debatable. Under the VRS scheme, 30 thousand SBI employees are eligible.

Former RBI governor R. Rajan says we should all be in “alarm” for India’s GDP

The former Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan has said that our GDP data should “alarm” everyone. A post on his LinkedIn page mentioned how the GDP contraction of 23.9% will be worse if the informal section is accounted for in it. He further added India is far worse in the situation than the most severely hit in the pandemic – U.S.A. and Italy.

Trump’s ex-Lawyer accuses the President ogled his 15-year-old daughter

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer for Donald Trump has claimed in his new book that the President of the United States has ogles his daughter. Back in 2012, Trump has said to Cohen,  “Look at that piece of a***. I would love some of that.” When Cohen mentioned she was his daughter the President had replied, “When did she get so hot?”

Apple patents a new power-saving eye-tracking feature

Apple now has a new patent application regarding its wearable Apple Glass. The feature is a power-saving feature that tracks the wearer’s eyes. This is done by projecting light onto the user’s eye and tracking the reflection. It then studies the light projected and the light reflected to come to conclusions on how to track the eye.
