To many, India might seem like an anarchy with its blatant disregard for rules and lack of civic sense. However, the backbone of any democracy – universal suffrage for all adult citizens – is alive and kicking in the country. That we can still choose our leaders and that these leaders do make way for new ones are indications enough that democracy is functioning in the country, even if its citizens are seemingly lawless.
