Ten years of Marvel movies have all been leading up to this remarkable moment. The Marvel Universe is never going to be the same, all thanks to Thanos. We don’t know the fate of the Avengers for sure and we’re at the edge of our seats.

Now, I know there are hardcore fans who have lined up all 21 movies to watch before the final movie. But there are some of us who haven’t kept up with Marvel even though we really wanted to. No judgment there, 10 years is a long time to stay this consistent. Some of us never had the time nor the inclination to stay this determined.

So, for those of you have just wanted to watch the important movies to catch up with the rest of the world, here are the most integral films to watch before Avengers: End Game.

The Avengers (2012)

This is an obvious one.

It is the best and most efficient introduction to the main cast of heroes that will be fighting in Endgame, as well as the literal introduction to the circumstances that make them a team. Plus, it’s still just a really good film. You have to watch it!

There are more avenger movies that lead to this film like Iron Man, Captain America, and the Thor trilogies but they aren’t an absolute necessity to watch.

It starts off at the beginning of this long story too, with the invasion of New York City by the alien Chitauri being the first hint of involvement by Endgame‘s villain Thanos with Earth and its bravest heroes.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Besides moonlighting as a film about some space-friends who steal a fancy jewel, this is one of the most fun movies in Marvel’s Universe. It introduces Chris Pratt’s witty character and Zoe Saldana’s brilliant character with a heavy secret.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

After a homicidal/smart robot was unintentionally created by Tony Stark, this Avenger movie takes a dark turn since the early days. Tension and character growth is navigated throughout the film as the idea of sentient killbots backfired. This film is of course referenced in the next film.

Doctor Strange (2016)

Doctor Strange is a movie that acts as a separate entity on its own. Besides transforming from a surgeon to a wizard, Doctor Strange has a subtle origin to his story. You could have skipped it, but an integral part would also be a lot. The Time Stone is introduced, which is one of the Gems that play a crucial role in the End Game along with time-travel. Thanos is obsessed with it, so I guess we have to be as well.

Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

The Ant-Man movie is a pretty fun franchise with low stakes which makes it enjoyable but not as great. Although, Paul Rudd is a serious delight to watch as he shrinks and gets huge a couple of times. The

The main reason it is a requirement to watch this is that we’re around 90% sure that Avengers: Endgame is going to navigate into the Quantum Realm, a major part of Ant-Man movies.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

This is a no brainer. Infinity War and Endgame are two halves of the same coin. Watching Endgame will be senseless you haven’t seen Infinity War. Thanos and his powers are introduced in this movie while our heroes are shown vulnerable.

Captain Marvel (2019)

All about the ’90s, Captain Marvel is the key movie to the Marvel Universe. With girl power taking the lead, Nick Fury is an absolute delight as his past steers on to the Avenger’s path that seals his fate to the end. She’s badass and she’s unstoppable which makes us wonder how the fight between Thanos and Vers will end.

Watch these and you’re all set for the greatest finale the world has ever seen.
