What is SIH or Smart India Hackathon?

It is a nationwide initiative that provides students of India with a platform to develop innovative solutions for pressing problems of society, organizations, and government. SIH aims to foster a culture of product innovation, and problem-solving and encourages out-of-the-box thinking among students.

The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, All India Council for Technical Education, Persistent Systems, and i4c have jointly organized Smart India Hackathon 2022. The event’s media partners for 2022 are Doordarshan and All India Radio and sponsoring partners are Shell and AWS. SIH is recognised as the world’s largest open innovation model. 2017 marks the SIH’s year of inception and has been conducted annually since then.

Since its inception, SIH has seen the number of participants as well as problem statement providers only growing. Considering the initiative’s growth, this year SIH has also begun Smart India Hackathon to encourage school students to innovate and develop a problem-solving attitude at an early age.

Year after year, SIH has been impacting a large number of Indian students helping them to improve, and test their educational learnings in real-world problem-solving. It is also heavily contributing to encouraging the students to take interest in Innovation and entrepreneurship.
