In times when the entire northwest region of the country is witnessing heatwaves, Bengaluru has wrapped a blanket of a cool breeze on itself. Netizens have already begun packing their bags to visit the city.

The IMD’s regional office is expected to witness partly cloudy conditions with light showers till the 17th of May. There is also a possibility of rain or thunderstorm on both the 18th and 19th of May.

On Wednesday, the city’s temperature recorded 23 degrees Celsius, 11 degrees cooler than usual. The remnants of Cyclone Asani is said to be the main reason behind this temperature drop.  The winds in the city were so cool and pleasant, that the hill stations known for their pleasant weather like Shimla, and Mussoorie also had a higher temperature than Bengaluru.

The maximum temperature in Bengaluru was 23 degrees and the minimum was 19.5 degrees Celcius. This was one of the lowest maximum temperatures the city experienced in the month of May.

Similar kinds of climatic conditions were recorded in other parts of the states too. Drizzle was witnessed in the coastal region in Mangaluru and Udupi cities. The weather there was cloudy. The foothills of the Western Ghats too received good rain.

Meanwhile, cyclone Asani made landfall in Andhra Pradesh late on Wednesday night, May 11, after weakening into a deep depression. As informed by State Disaster Management Authority, the cyclone was predicted to not make landfall, however, it continued its advancement towards the Andhra coast and changed course unexpectedly.

Those residing in the northwest part of the country are troubled due to the skin burning heatwaves and are looking for an escape. States and UTs like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, etc are witnessing one of the worse summers ever. Delhi’s temperature is expected to touch 44 degrees Celcius over the weekend. As a result, IMD has already issued an orange warning.

To escape the heat, people are now thinking to plan a vacation or a short trip to the south before 20th May to enjoy the cool summer that has settled in the southern states.
