Two days back when Instagram introduced a Snapchat like feature where you can upload stories, internet went berserk calling it a case of copy paste. But you’ll be thrilled to know that people as well as brands, are in love with this feature.
Instagram Stories is a new feature that lives at the top of your newsfeed and allows you to pop in a stream of photos that expire after 24 hours, just like Snapchat. But what people fail to understand is what Instagram has built is actually better and more well considered. Some people especially adults find using Snapchat a little confusing due to its interface but Instagram has built a very user-friendly interface which is easy to understand by people of all age groups.
Instagram Stories have all the fancy drawing features you’d find on Snapchat, but less buttons and options to get in the way of actually sharing your photos.
Not just people but Instagram stories have managed to impress the brands owners and Digital pundits as well. On the first day of its launch itself Nike generated 800,000 views in 24 hours for an Instagram Story that it posted. On Snapchat, Nike’s best video got 66,000 views, according to Nike and its social media agency Laundry Service.
There are no heart icons for people to express their approval on Snapchat, and it’s harder to follow accounts because users have to know exact names to find them. Instagram makes searching easier, and its lets brands buy ads that have “follow” buttons in their posts.
Still, Instagram doesn’t have the same messaging capabilities as Snapchat but we all know that Instagram will come up with that too very soon so Snapchat better buckle up with something excellent as Instagram Stories is here to stay.
