Waves 2016 – Tides of Time, the annual cultural festival of BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus was filled with a multitude of events and dazzling nights featuring top artists of the country.

Day 0 began with a grand inauguration in the auditorium. An art performance by Kala and a humorous sketch performed by the Mime Club stunned all present.

Game of Scrolls was a face-off pitting the wit of teams against one another while Drinkathon consisted of contestants having to drink bitter gourd juice, with the fastest 8 advancing to the next round, where 3 glasses of juice and Appy Fizz were to be consumed.

Searock, India’s largest semi-professional rock band competition exhilarated the audience throughout the night with performances ranging from the band “Three Hours Peace” to “Wild Amigos”.

DJ Spin-off was a single event held in association with the PartyMap DJ Academy. The participants were asked to prepare 5 minute track set on console on spot. Dozens of people flocked to the outdoor stage to groove to the electronic beats. The first position was bagged by Nabeel Penkar from TMV.

The first round of eliminations for Jukebox, a singing competition, boasted of performances by around 100 participants in the first round and the top ten qualified for the second round.

The final event for day 0, Sizzle the dance showdown saw an elimination round which consisted of 56 participant. Only 12 made it to the next round. Scintillating performances left the audience in awe, with HR and Jain College turning out on top.

The first day of one of the biggest college fests in India, Waves, kicked off with a number of exciting events.

Day 1 started with The Vices quiz, a BITS specialty. Filled with informative trivia, the first prize was bagged by Ankit and Ashish from Pune, with the on-campus team of Mahima, Shreenath and Vashisht finishing second.

The Waves debate, Contention, witnessed a smooth start, with 33 team and 38 adjudicators from colleges across the country vying for prize money worth Rs 35000.

Another literary event was Word Games, with the room packed with students competing in teams of 2 and playing with puns, anagrams and scrabble boards.

Rangmanch, the stage-play competition, pitted 11 teams against each other for the top three spots.

8 teams participated in the Nukkad Natak, and brought to light the various issues of today such as censorship and gender tolerance.

Blind Art had people competing in pairs, where one was blindfolded and had to sketch based on his handcuffed partner’s narration.
