After the unexpected and unimagined turmoil that 2020 caused, 2021 needed a color of hope, positivity, courage, and resilience. Recognizing this need, and continuing the yearly ritual, the Pantone Color Institute has introduced a union of two colors this time as the Pantone color of the year 2021.

Like every year, the Pantone Color Institute decides on a color based on how the previous year turns out to be. Considering how things went down the hill in 2020, the Pantone Color Institute has come with colors that aim to replace fear and uncertainty with warmth, courage, and optimism in the hearts of all.  The two colors of the year are, PANTONE 17-5104 ‘Ultimate Gray’  and PANTONE 13-0647 ‘Illuminating’.

The Ultimate Gray signifies the pebbles found on the beach and other natural elements that display their ability to stand the test of time. It stands for calmness, composure, and resilience. On the other hand, Illuminating is more peppy, warm, and cheerful. The color is aspirational and gives immense hope.

Together, these two colors indicate how two elements can come together to support each other and emerge looking even better in the company of one another. Commenting on this year’s Pantone color, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute said, “Practical and rock-solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted, this is essential to the human spirit.”

Welcoming the shades, the celebs have gracefully pulled off these colors with total chic. Let’s have a look at some of them:
