Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ scheme, which provides financial aid to the state’s unemployed males. The new scheme assists unemployed male students who have completed their class 12, diploma or graduate degree. The scheme provides various benefits to youth based on their education qualifications. According to the scheme details, students who have completed class 12 will receive Rs. 6000 per month, who have completed their diploma will receive Rs. 8000 per month and graduates will receive Rs. 10,000 per month.

Aim of ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’

  • The main objective of this scheme is to benefit around 1 million youth. The Maharashtra government is expected to spend a total of ₹10,000 crore for this scheme. 
  • Under the Ladla Bhai scheme, the youth of Maharashtra will participate in a one-year apprenticeship in a factory, where they must gain work experience that will help them secure jobs in the future. 
  • The scheme will provide skilled youth not only to the state’s industries but also to those across the country. 
  • The government will pay the youth during their apprenticeship to help them become proficient in their jobs.

Ladla Bhai Yojana eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be permanent residents of Maharashtra state.
  • Applicants must have 12th grade, obtained a diploma, or a graduate degree.
  • Applicants must have a bank account.
  • Youths whose family members are government employees or members of Parliament or pay income tax are not eligible.

‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ Stipend

The stipend amount will be based on the beneficiaries’ qualifications, as stated by an official from the Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.

What is Ladli Behna Yojana? 

The Maharashtra government has introduced the Ladli Behna Yojana Maharashtra 2024 with the primary goal of providing financial assistance to economically weaker women in the state. The objective was to empower these women, making them self-reliant and independent, as many women face challenges in fulfilling their basic needs due to their financial circumstances. Therefore, like several other states, the Maharashtra government will provide monthly financial aid of ₹1500 to women aged 21 to 65 years. 

This scheme aims to improve the socio-economic status of girls, ensure their education, and promote gender equality by providing financial assistance and support, the Ladli Behna Yojana seeks to address critical issues such as gender disparity, education for girls, and economic independence for women. 

Benefits of Ladli Behna Yojana Maharashtra 2024

The Maharashtra government has introduced the Ladli Behna Yojana Maharashtra 2024 with several benefits and features to assist women across the state:

  • Enrolled women will receive financial assistance of ₹1500/- pm (₹18000/-pa).
  • The government has a substantial budget of ₹46,000 crores for the execution and maintenance of this scheme.
  • Approximately 1.50 crore women across Maharashtra are expected to benefit from this initiative.
  • Through consistent financial assistance, women will strengthen their financial independence.
  • Beneficiary selection will be based on the economic status of the woman’s family, to ensure priority for those from poor backgrounds.
  • The scheme will be implemented across the state from July 2024, aiming to significantly improve the economic condition of women from economically disadvantaged families.

Eligibility Criteria 

To qualify for the Ladli Behna Yojana Maharashtra 2024 and receive its benefits, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria:

  • Domicile: The applicant woman must be a resident of Maharashtra.
  • Age: Women aged between 21 and 65 years are eligible.
  • Income Limit: The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed ₹2.5 lakhs.
  • Bank Account with Aadhaar Linked: The woman’s bank account should be linked with Aadhaar and a mobile number.
  • Family Status: No member of the applicant’s family should be a government employee.
  • Priority: Preference will be given to destitute, widowed women, and women from poor and economically weaker sections.

The ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ released after the newer scheme, ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’, gives eligible women in the age group of 21-60 years an amount of ₹1,500 every month. The goals behind this scheme were all-round progress and empowerment of the female and male sections in terms of economic independence, self-reliance, health, and nutrition. The annual budget outlay has been in crore towards women’s empowerment in Maharashtra and unemployed males.
