Kishinchand Chellaram College, HSNC University, Mumbai, organizes the eighth edition of its International Media Summit from 17-19 March, 2021. It is an annual international media conference organised by The Department of Mass Media for the last seven years. The theme of this year’s conference will be Digital Media Literacy in 2021. The conference has received overwhelming response from eminent researchers and academicians from across the globe. Senior academicians from the UK, US, China and Mauritius will be participating virtually in the conference. Reputed universities of India have confirmed their participation for the conference.
The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony is Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Provost of HSNC University, Mumbai. The keynote address of the conference will be delivered by Dr. Sanjay Dwivedi, Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi. Dr. Sue Sudbury, Associate Professor at Bournemouth University and a documentary filmmaker, will deliver a talk on Locating a ‘third voice’ : participatory filmmaking and digital storytelling in rural India on 19th March, 2021.
A virtual film festival Talking Frames, was held on March 16, 2021 as a part of the Media Summit in association with Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, and Shamiana Films, Mumbai. The films for the screenings were produced, directed and edited by the UG Students Film, Television and New Media Production (BAFTNMP) students of the reputed colleges of Mumbai.

Elaborating further, Dr. Manjula Srinivas, Head and Associate Professor, Department of Mass Media and Convenor of the conference said, “This conference will help people to understand the New Media opportunities and assist them in pursuing higher education in Digital Media Literacy.”
With Digital media education at its core, the conference will witness numerous discussions and deliberations about the importance of Digital Media Literacy in today’s world.
