Uncharted 2 is arguably the best game of this generation, so topping it was always going to be an uphill task. Drake’s Deception continues Nathan Drake’s journey, tracking Sir Francis Drake’s footsteps in a quest to discover a fabled hidden treasure of “immeasurable wealth”. He faces a lot of resistance along the way, which plays out through cover-based shooting segments, hand-to-hand combat and lots of platforming to get around. Puzzles are also thrown into the mix and some of these are quite challenging. As always, presentation is top notch, with great cut-scenes and set pieces, amazing voice acting and stunning graphics. Some movement and shooting controls may seem off at times and the excessive number of enemies in some gun battles can get annoying. Still, these do nothing to take away from the breathtaking game that may not surpass its predecessor, but definitely matches it. And that’s all we could have asked for.
