These days, there is just too much TV for the average human brain to filter through at any given time! The TV genre gets better and better, especially in the realms of science fiction and fantasy. There are so many shows catering to this genre that I’ve taken it upon myself to curate 5 of the best shows to look into if you’re new in the world of Science Fiction.

Stranger Things

With an 80’s classic vibe to captivate the audience, Stranger Things can interest the young and the old with the plot. Set in 1983, Indiana, a young boy vanishes into thin air when extraordinary things are set in motion that involves terrifying creatures, supernatural forces, and a little strange girl. Friendships are tested and the ‘Upside Down’ is revealed, making us question that if there could be a parallel dimension to our bright and cheery world.

Rick and Morty

IMDB Rating: 9.3/10

Rick and Morty is an animated show that follows the adventures a 14-year-old boy takes with his crazy/intelligent grandfather Rick. It is filled with layers and layers of wisdom, portrayed in a comical and dark fashion. The theme subtly outlines the fight between our inner self and the desire to be constantly entertained. As the show progresses, the individual characters show growth on a personal level. With great dialogues and great concepts to look forward to, you will not be disappointed with the fresh content that Rick and Morty depict.

Sense 8

IMDB Rating: 8.7/10

The premise revolves around 8 people spread all over the world, who start having visions physically connecting each other through bizarre sensations. Slowly they learn to communicate with each other and share their expertise as they realize that someone very powerful in the government is hunting them down. The show has the best representation of people, especially of the LGBTQ community with a transgender woman as their protagonist, a gay actor, a Korean angry daughter, a gangster from Berlin, an Indian pharmacist, a bus driver from Nairobi and DJ from Iceland. A lot of themes have been covered in this show as each character overcomes their challenge. It’s a definitely unique concept to dip your mind into something refreshing.

Black Mirror

IMDB Rating: 8.9/10

Sci-fi tv shows

Black Mirror is a collection of science fiction episodes with a dark concept and a sharper edge. It is a dystopian yet little touch of radical feel towards technology and its effects on humans in the near future. The first episode is the toughest to watch but once into the episodes, it’s hard not to watch. Each episode has impressive ideas yet disturbing if thought about practically. The raw honesty of the series will wake you up, like cold water on winter mornings.

Love, Death and Robots

IMDB Rating: 8.9/10

Sci-fi tv shows

Love, Death and Robots is a dark, messed up experiment made up of 18 episodes of fluctuating lengths, genres and animatronic techniques. There is a common theme of loss of innocence that binds all the episodes together with an uneven feeling. Yet, there is sizzle in the making of the episodes that talk about the relationship between humans and technologies. It might seem like Black Mirror but somehow it’s more intense. It’s as if the makers were high on LSD the entire time they took to create this show.

So which one will you watch first?
