As the father of our nation says, ‘our actions express our priorities’. It is time we truly focus on things that demand prioritizing. What it means is to put each of the tasks and problems in order of importance, so that you can deal with the most important ones first.
The very purpose of prioritizing is to be productive and efficient. It enables you to avoid end moment chaos and mess and helps you get out of your comfort zones. Moreover, you try new skills, learn effective time management as you are giving time to everything depending on its importance and relevance in the near future. Hence, it becomes quite significant.
Prioritizing makes this term come to life: less talking, more action
It gives you time to find and discover your passion as you can try more things, whilst developing patience, reduction in stress when you plan things in advance, and work as per that.
Now, to learn this art, let’s familiarise with Warren Buffet’s 5/25 Rule.
It suggests making a list of 25 things that you want to do in life. Do the top 5, never think about the other 20 again, else they will take time away from the top 5 things that really matter to you.
In this, focus is the key. When you want to truly command your mind: Self Discipline becomes crucial. Yet, why do people fail? It is because everyone wants to go to heaven, nobody wants to die. What you should instead believe is, to be willing to do what it takes. Prioritizing helps and in fact, is the first important step in that direction.
Next, keep your own promises.
People’s admiration and people’s gratitude won’t fill you up. Self-confidence is what builds when you keep your promises and are consciously aware of them. One must develop an appreciation for even adversity.
“Imagine how brave you will be if you detach yourself from all outcomes, whether it is a victory or a tragedy.” – Robin Sharma
What you allow is what’s going to continue in your life. It’s hard to accept, but what’s happening in our lives is what we are really allowing to happen. If we really wish to change it, Te will and attempt to change must come from within. Nobody can do it for you.
Now, give yourself some time to think, to analyse why you want what you want. It’s okay to take breaks and understand what you’re thinking or doing, even not thinking for some time.
You should focus more on things you can really control or change, than the circumstance based or outcome-based things. You must remain mindful of who you spend your time with and how they make you feel.
Time is the currency you only get to spend once. Use it wisely. Make sure you do what it takes but also what really makes you happy or gives you a sense of satisfaction. Hurdles are meant to come time and again but it’s the love and passion for something that can really drive you through towards success.
If you can do this, you’ve learnt the art of prioritizing.
