While the third gender – eunuchs, transgenders, etc – have been gaining some social recognition in India, the truth is that most of this community (and broadly the LGBT community) is neglected and devoid of the same privileges society bestows on ‘normal’ people. Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders – the LGBTs – those whose sexuality is deemed ‘unnatural’ have been made out to be criminals in the Indian Penal Code.
