Kaleidoscope happens to be one of the biggest college festivals in all of Mumbai, visited by students from across the area who want to join in on the fun and explore it. It’s an engaging fest with something for all sorts of people, you name it. You have food stalls lined up around the campus for every taste, interesting and thought-provoking contests throughout the day and some of the most electrifying events possible—ones of dancing, singing, writing, and of whatever else that may fit your vibe! All of this, coupled with the beautiful and calming campus, makes it a place for all students to feel welcomed. Now, everything that Kaleidoscope has to offer doesn’t just appear with the click of a button. Every single minute of the fest has been taken into account to make it feel like one of the best experiences ever lived, and everything that there is to enjoy was planned beforehand for that very cause. And who is behind all of this, you may ask? Well, the college staff are an incredible bunch, who carry a lot of the weight of the festival on their backs, but they are definitely not the only ones who make the festival what it is.
Have you ever felt that you are often overlooked when someone needs a person to complete a hard task simply because of your age? Or have you ever felt like you are never taken seriously, like an actual person who may even have some of the best ideas in the room? Or never thought of as responsible, whether you’ve proven yourself to others or not? Well, Kaleidoscope is just the festival to prove the people who think like that wrong.
The students of the college are the major driving force of the festival, and it truly wouldn’t be the same without them. For anything and everything that you can think of, there is a workforce of volunteers to make it happen. To brainstorm events and to hold them, to build up hype, to take care of the tech during said events, to decorate the campus, to make sure everything is taken care of, and many other tasks are all completed by them in unity, combining all their efforts together so as to make the festival as special as it is and with as much productivity as possible! Every second you spend on the campus during the fest, you see at least a few volunteers rushing by to fulfil their duties. They make sure that the festival runs as smoothly as possible and that there isn’t anything that goes haywire, off the rails. Time and again, the students have shown that they truly are capable of doing what has to be done, and they have proven themselves to be responsible when the moment calls for it. And the fact is that this isn’t only the case with the students behind Kaleidoscope.
A lot of the youth of today have the very same qualities. It’s the fact that they aren’t given a chance to show off those qualities like the fest allows the students to, a rare opportunity in today’s world. They are a courageous, smart and hard-working, polite and problem-solving group. Yet the elders of society constantly look over all of those features, undermining them, and instead look at something that could not matter less. Opportunity after opportunity of growing into the ideal human being has been lost simply because of others looking at them through the wrong lens, an incredibly unfair situation to be in!
