As the Kiki Challenge continues to dominate world over, three men from Virar have been ordered to clean the railway station after videos of them performing the challenge went viral on social media. They were arrested on Wednesday, a first for the ‘Kiki performers’ in India.
The videos posted online show Shyam Sharma (24), Nishanth Sharma (20) and Dhruv Shah (23) dangerously performing the challenge on trains and at the railway platforms. Their videos instantly went viral on social media, with a staggering 1.4 million views on YouTube.
The video was then brought to the attention of the Railway Protection force, who tracked down the youth. During their search, they discovered that the three men had also performed the Kiki Challenge on an ambulance, before their railway stunt. The investigating team contacted the owner of the ambulance shown in the video, which led them to these men.
They were then picked up by the officials and produced before the railway court at Vasai. The court ordered them to clean up Vasai Railway Station three times this week. Additionally, they have to undertake a drive to create awareness about the dangers associated with performing such stunts. Videos of them cleaning the station and the awareness drive have to be submitted to the court, who will decide on further punishment, if any.
“This is a one of its kind task assigned by the court. It will help create awareness among commuters against the dangers of Kiki challenge”, said Anup Shukla, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of the Western Railway.
Also called the In My Feelings challenge, the dance has attracted an enormous wave of followers, getting off moving cars and dancing as the driver films them. However, this challenge has proved to be dangerous as seen in the number of accidents caught on tape, involving those performing the challenge. These security concerns sparked warnings from authorities not just in India, but around the world.
