Arnab Goswami, former Editor-in-chief of TIMES NOW, announced on 16 December 2016, that he is coming up with his new venture, a news channel called REPUBLIC TV, with a slogan ‘ You are republic, we are your voice’. Finally on 6 May 2017, the REPUBLIC TV channel was launched as a news and current affairs channel based in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
It is free channel broadcasted through DTH services and cable TV, along with mobile platforms like JioTV and Hotstar. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a Rajya Sabha MP, is one of the largest investors and a director in the journalist’s media venture. Republic TV has also collaborated with Vikatan Group for regional Tamil stories and news.
It does brings us to many questions like – ‘ What to expect from REPUBLIC TV?’ , ‘ Would be NEWSHOUR all over again’, and many more…
Arnab Goswami’s former debate show NEWSHOUR has been stereotyped as ‘shouting contest’, ‘Rubbing Arnab’s opinions on others’, ‘lack of maturity on his side’, ‘the show has more accusations than debate’, ‘making personal digs’, basically most people believe it to be ‘utter chaos’. Thus, many people find a huge possibility of REPUBLIC T.V. turning into NEWSHOUR. But, what people need to do is stop being so blind-sided by the stereotypes and stigma. They should focus more on the things that actually matter. The positive aspects that people should be expecting are:
-Many people watched his prior show to acquire knowledge and different perspective of any topic. Probably the same quality of information would be provided by his channel as well.
– Arnab Goswami slams the people who are misleading others in the name of constitution, religion, laws and ethics.
-He is pro-India and comes up with logical and statistical facts.
-One could always improve their communication skills by watching REPUBLIC TV
-One could grasp the confidence and self belief that Arnab exhibits.
So, in my opinion, every coin has two sides, positive and negative and one must be well aware of both before forming a strong opinion of any kind.
