CBSE to SC: 12th compartment results to be announced on Oct 10

CBSE has informed the Supreme Court that the results of Class 12 compartment exams will be announced by October 10. UGC too has informed the Supreme Court that the Academic Calendar has been drafted based on which admissions will close by October 31 and time for provisional admissions will continue even after that date.

The state of West Bengal is most likely to push the 12 board examination to the second half of 2021 however deliberate attempts are made to conduct the 10th board exams on time, the officials informed. As per the academic calendar of the state, the class 10 board exams are conducted in February and the class 12 board exams in March. “Discussions have started on how to hold the two exams in 2021 as only a few months are left. One suggestion that has come up is to hold the class 10 exams on time while postponing the class 12 exams by a few months,” a senior official said in a statement. 

Mumbai witnesses second wettest monsoon ever with 3,679.8 mm rain

With almost the entire city watter logged, Mumbai witnessed its second-wettest monsoon ever with 3,679.8 mm rain recorded from June 1 to September 24 morning. This figure bas beated last year’s seasonal rain tally of 3,670.4 mm. The highest all-time seasonal rainfall was first time recorded in 1958 at 3,759.7 mm. 

14 pairs of trains cancelled in Punjab due to farmers’ protests

To express dissent over the freshly passed Farm Bills by the NDA government, a total of 14 pairs of passenger trains are cancelled from September 24 to 26. Farmers of Punjab are going to conduct a three-day rail roko protest against the three agriculture bills. The cancelled trains include, the Amritsar-Haridwar train which won’t run from September 25-26 and New Delhi-Jammu Tawi Express which won’t be running from September 24-26. The Hazur Sahib Nanded-Amritsar train too won’t run till Amritsar and will end its journey in Old Delhi only. 

15 bills passed by Rajya Sabha in 2 days amid Opposition’s boycott

While the opposition boycotted proceedings in both houses in protest against the suspension of eight MPs, the Rajya Sabha passed 15 bills in two days. The house passed seven bills on Tuesday, and another eight on Wednesday.

Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh to be 1st woman pilot to fly Rafale

Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh has been commissioned as the first woman pilot to join Rafale’s ‘Golden Arrows’ Squadron in Ambala. As a part of the second batch of women fighter pilots, Flight Lieutenant Singh was first commissioned into the IAF in 2017. At present she flies a MiG-21 Bison and is currently deployed at Rajasthan Air Base.

Bill Gates predicts that work from home culture to continue even after pandemic

Microsoft co-founder and billionaire Bill Gates has said that the work from home culture which emerged during the lockdown has yielded positive outcomes and thus many companies will continue with the system even after the coronavirus pandemic comes to end. “But once this pandemic ends, we will rethink on what percentage of time we spend in offices…20, 30, 50%,” said Bill Gates. 

To test vaccines, UK to deliberately infect humans with COVID-19

In what comes as a shock to many, the UK government is set to conduct clinical trials where healthy volunteers will deliberatley infected with Covid-19 virus to assess how the experimental vaccines works on the virus, the Financial Times reported. These trails are going to begin in Janurary next year in London. About 2,000 potential volunteers have agreed to participate in these trails, the report added.

Singer Zayn Malik and fashion model announced the birth of their firstborn. The couple has been blessed with a baby girl. The singer broke this news to all the fans by posting a picture wherein he can be seen holding the newborn’s hand.
