Usually, students fear a surprise test; this week, Khan Sir faced a surprise FIR at his coaching institute in Patna.
Faisal Khan was born in 1993 in Uttar Pradesh to a homemaker mother and a building contractor father. He has an elder brother who proudly serves in the army and a wife, whom he recently got married to. After completing his foundational schooling in Deoria, he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master's degree in Geography from the University of Allahabad. He was all set to join the Indian Army like his brother, clearing the NDA exam, but was disqualified on medical grounds.
He started by teaching a small batch of just 6 students in Patna. His simple techniques for explaining complex subjects quickly grabbed the attention of many mothers. They started sending their children to him. His entire popularity is built on the most lethal marketing technique- word of mouth. He started teaching online through a YouTube channel during the COVID pandemic. Khan GS Research Centre grew to nearly 24 million subscribers. His nominal fees, fluency in Hindi & English while teaching, and his unique teaching methods made him an absolute legend. Students, especially those preparing for government exams, resorted to his channel for a fun and interesting study session.
With his growing popularity, he managed to get featured on a lot of television platforms like KBC [Kaun Banega Crorepati] & The Kapil Sharma Show. He was also seen on the podcast Figuring Out With Raj Shamani. He has also been interviewed by Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat.

Amongst the most followed and subscribed education channels on YouTube, Khan GS Research Centre by Faisal Khan [popularly known as Khan Sir] is now making headlines for completely different reasons.
What Is The Khan Sir Firing Case?
On June 2 2026, at 10:10 in the night, an attack was launched under the pretext of vandalism. But the situation quickly escalated. The group of 15-20 people who attacked the coaching centre were exposed to open firing by the security guards. One security guard was injured, and an investigation was launched.
Various security footage show the encounter. Police confiscated the weapons of the security guards and began questioning, trying to find out on whose orders the shots were fired. Khan Sir came into the picture as it was said that under his orders the guards fired.
However, he remains on his stand, stating that there was no wrongdoing on his part. The entire case remains under the scrutiny of law. Khan Sir was arrested, and the coaching institute was temporarily shut. Fearing further problems and arrest, Khan Sir applied for anticipatory bail from the Patna Civil Court.
What Happens Next For Khan GS Research Centre?
Khan Sir Firing Case saw major relief when the Patna Court granted him interim anticipatory bail. This bail means that he will not be detained until his charges have concrete evidence. After everything is reviewed, the court will decide if he is guilty.
He has, however, moved toward the Patna High Court to restart his classes, to make sure his students don’t suffer the consequences.
The reason behind this attack, as cited by Khan Sir, is the immense frustration of fellow coaching institutes in Patna. In his defence, he said that he was constantly receiving threats. Teaching institutes are a competitive market, but stooping to this level not only affects you, but it also affects everyone else who is connected to the institute.
Why Was Khan Sir Attacked And Then Arrested?
What is the structure and fees to study with Khan Sir?
Khan Sir’s institute roughly charges around ₹6,000 to ₹10,000 for standard competitive exams.
The GS Prelims + Mains foundation batch costs roughly ₹35,000 (English Medium) to ₹79,500.
Typically ranges from ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 for foundation batches for state exams.
Crash Courses for ₹3,000 to ₹5,000.
Digital access courses can be as low as ₹99 to ₹1,500 on the KGS Live platform.
His personal net worth could be anywhere between ₹5 to ₹40 crore.
With over 26 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel (Khan GS Research Centre), he makes an estimated ₹10 to ₹20 lakh per month strictly from ads and sponsorships.
Even though the fees are low, the quantity of students enrolling through his app is relatively higher, making up for higher revenue. Other classes generally charge in lakhs. He has 2 centres in Patna, one in Delhi, one in UP and one in Dehradun.
In accordance with this massive earning as just a coaching centre teacher and this widely recognised follower base, it is only possible that he has haters or rivals. Gyan Bindu GS Academy’s Raushan Anand, with his associates Gaurav Kumar and Abhishek Kumar, could have been arrested for this very reason? That we don’t know. The three also applied for bail, but it was rejected. The court has scheduled a hearing on 13th of June, 2026, and we are yet to see what happens next.
How Does This Affect The Students?

Teaching centres have been relatively popular. Going to tuitions/coaching centres after school is practised by a lot of students, all across the country. But with that emerging learning, the competition to enrol more and more students has taken away the purpose and magic of coaching centres.
What was once a temple of learning is now reduced to a source of income merely for the owners and the teachers. But once in a while, there come teachers like Khan Sir who look at imparting education as a service and not as a job. So it was obvious that he would face problems with the other institutes in the category.
Apart from this firing incident, he was also held responsible by Anjana Om Kashyap & TV Today Network. He and the other panellists were said to have made some derogatory remarks in retaliation to the hosts’ comment that the online teachers were unworthy, which pushed down the reputation of the media personnel. The Delhi High Court is still hearing that case.
Being a teacher that everyone looks up to is a risky job. Such cases put the students' lives in jeopardy and the parents in worrisome situations. The current global education system is reasonably affected by wars, visa issues, and the growing global conflicts. This puts us in a spot on how to navigate a secure future for the upcoming generations.
