1. JEE students residing in flood-hit parts of Vidarbha can apply for re-exam: HC
Bombay High Court’s Nagpur bench on Tuesday refused to stay JEE Main examination but has allowed students residing in flood-hit parts of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra who fail to reach the examination centre or reaches late can apply to National Testing Agency (NTA) requesting for re-examination. The HC bench has directed NTA to consider such applications and decide accordingly.
2. Over 5.6 lakh UG applications pour in DU, highest in 3 years
The registration process for UG admission to the Delhi University came to an ends on Monday totaling the number of applicants to over 5.63 lakh. These are applicants who are willing to take admission for undergraduate courses. This number is the highest in the last three years. In addition to this, over 1.8 lakh students have applied for postgraduate courses and 34,306 students have applied for M.Phil and PhD, a data that is available on DU’s official website.
3. UPSC releases admit card for civil services prelims exam 2020
The admit card for civil services prelims exam 2020 has been released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on its official website at upsc.gov.in. Candidates can now sign in using either their registration ID or their roll number to download their e-admit card. The prelims are scheduled to commence on October 4. Candidates are expected to download and check their admit card. Any error in the card should be brought to the notice of UPSC immediately. The E-Admit Card must be kept safe with the candidates until the final results of the Civil Services Examination, 2020 get announced.
4. IGNOU further extends application dates to 15 September for July 2020 session
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has once again extended the deadline to fill out the application for admission and re-registration for July 2020 session till September 15. Candidates can apply online for all programs at ignou.ac.in. The programmes offered by IGNOU include all undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, PG Certificate, and appreciation/awareness level programmes. 5. IIT Madras proves brainwaves study can help determine worker’s ability to handle crisis
Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras have found a method that successfully determines whether an employee has the mental capacity to handle a crisis situation in a factory or other high-stress jobs by measuring their brainwaves using an electroencephalogram (EEG).EEG is a technique that measures brain activity, and can also measure the cognitive workload of human operators in a chemical plant control room. This technique involves fixing sensors on the scalp of the person and measuring his/her brainwave activity.
6. September 14 to mark the beginning of Parliament’s monsoon session
Even though the number of coronavirus cases is soaring high as ever in the country, the monsoon session of the Parliament is all set to begin on September 14 and will continue to remain in session till October 1, the government said. “Subject to exigencies of business, the session is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, October 1, 2020,” the official circular stated.
