India receives International Blue Flag Certification for 8 beaches
India was also awarded third prize for “International Best Practices” for pollution control in coastal regions. The beaches were: Ghoghla (Diu), Kasarkod and Padubidri (Karnataka), Shivrajpur (Dwarka-Gujarat), Golden (Puri-Odisha) and Radhanagar (Andaman & Nicobar Islands), Kappad (Kerala) and Rushikonda (AP).
UP will reopen schools from October 19
The physical school will resume from Oct 19 in UP for students from classes 9-12 only if they have written consent from their parents or guardian. Regular Covid-19 protocol is to be followed. Schools are required to thoroughly disinfect the campus. Classes will be held in two shifts and an emergency response team is required to be formed by schools.
Union Education Minister says that students will not need to “spend dollars” now
With the introduction of the new National Education Policy, the Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal says that India has all the infrastructure and facilities and Indian students will not have to enroll in foreign universities. PM Narendra Modi has invited foriegn universities to set up campuses in India.

The Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan announced that the Feluda Test that can detect COVID causing virus will be out in a few weeks. This Feluda paper strip can show results in about 45 minutes. It changes colour on detection and is more accurate than Rapid Antigen Test.
Former UP DGP says that there must be an inquiry into Hathras “forced” cremation
Javeed Ahmad criticised the action taken by UP police of cremating the body without the victim’s family. He mentioned that this has happened before but with consent of the family. He stated, “To maintain the order, one cannot break the law.”
