Mark Callaway, better known as The Undertaker, has been a fearing name in wrestling history. From his looks to the tactical moves he has built up a deadly personality of himself since his debut in the 90’s. The Deadman is though one of the most known, liked and followed wrestlers of the World Wrestling Federation. As he announces his retirement this week, leaving behind millions of fans in memories of ‘The Legendary Undertaker’ we get you some of the best matches of the brother of destruction.
Vs Batista (Wrestlemania XXIII 2007)
Starting with a sphere drive, the seventeen minutes long Wrestlemania match happened with both bashing each other in either of the corners. This was just a simple match for Batista, but for Taker, Wrestlemania has always rhymed with the unbreakable streak. The last move could be a break to the streak, until it wasn’t reversed in favour of the Deadman making it worst for Batista to get a tombstone pile driver. This ended the match with Taker’s head high facing the sky.
Vs Edge (Summerslam 2008)
HIAC matches are usually exciting, as the cage which is levied down in the start doesn’t go up without blood stains over the sides. From throwing each other at the poles, to smashing their heads with the steel stairs, banging chairs over the bleeding skull and breaking tables with the lashing flesh, this fearful act of no disqualification left the two men trying their level best to get the countdowns. The match lasts for almost thirty minutes, where taker midway also leaves the arena but returns back with anger. This aggression makes him erect two ladders and choke-slam Edge from the top of the ladder ditching the stage, which erupts into fire, as edge falls into the pitted stage.
Vs Shawn Michaels (Wrestlemania 26 & Badd Blood 2010 &1997)
Shawn Michaels has fought the Phenom innumerable times. 1997 noticed the Badd Blood which was the most fiercely dangerous matches between them. Blood flowing through their head showed the mercy they lacked for each other. This took an insulting turn in the match of 2010, when Shawn fought for his career and taker fought for his streak. Shawn slapped Undertaker in an ongoing match. The worst was yet to come with him being teased by Michaels, his style of warning. Provoking the Deadman to rip him apart, Shawn accepted a defeat at the count of three.
Vs Mankind (Hell In a Cell 1998)
Mankind was thrown descending from a high rising cage by taker, for a match which started inside the cage. It was very unique, for the audience had not many times noticed the wrestlers fighting above the cage. Taker after a very long lasting match won, becoming the King of the Ring.
Vs Triple H (Wrestlemania 27 & Wrestlemania 28, 2011 & 2012)
Analytically it’s seen, Triple H has been one of the toughest competitor for taker to crack a deal. With both the matches fought passionately, undertaker had to put all his best ensuring he didn’t give a single opportunity to the Game, as he could flip the game. With all their matches lasting more than half an hour, they have constantly bashed each other with all the available things. Taker manages to retain his streak by defeating Triple H in subsequent matches.
CM Punk, The Great Khali, Umaga, Big Daddy and Kane could have not made to this list, but their fight with the Phenom are surely recommended to watch. The six feet tall wrestler has survived for 25 years in the industry with an identity of a Deadman. His name is still feared with his horrifying entry song and walk. With his retirement on board, hope the fans get to hear those bells ringing, see those caskets open and feel the resurrection of The Undertaker.
