1. After Hathras rape case, two more cases of gang-rape reported in UP
Just a day after the brutal gang rape of Hathras came to the forefront, two more cases of gang-rape, one on a 14-year-old and the other on a 22-year-old girl, were reported in UP. The 14-year-old minor belongs to Bulandshahr who is currently undergoing treatment. The other 22-year-old girl from Balrampur succumbed to her injuries. All accused have been arrested by the police.
2. 1 Indian soldier martyred in ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in J&K
India lost one of its Indian Army soldiers named Lance Naik Karnail Singh, who was martyred in a ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops in Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s on Wednesday. “The nation will remain indebted to his supreme sacrifice. We offer condolences to his family,” Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand, the Defence spokesperson said in an official statement.
3. India moves its Nirbhay missiles having 1,000-km range, to defend LAC
In a preparatory move, India has placed its Nirbhay subsonic cruise missiles along the LAC where India and China have been locked in a standoff since quite a long time now. The reports released providing information of this move also state that these1,000-km range solid rocket booster missiles have a single shot kill ratio of over 90%. The induction of these Nirbhay missiles is yet to be done although its formal induction has been cleared.
4. Rahul Gandhi arrested while on his way to Hathras, questions police, ‘on what grounds?’
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi were headed to Hathras to meet the family of the victim when the police stopped them from moving their cars further. As a response to this, both the leaders decided to walk towards the house. In retaliation, the Congress leader got pushed by the police official, which led to havoc in between the road. Rahul Gandhi was then arrested. He has questioned the police on what grounds has he been taken into custody and which law did he violate. “We’ve stopped them here. The Epidemic Act is being violated. We’ll not allow them to proceed forward,” Ranvijay Singh, ADCP of Noida, said.
5. Carrying hard copies of driving licence, RC will no longer be required from today
Now, drivers will no longer have to carry physical copies of their vehicular documents like driving licence, registration certificate as these documents will now be validated through Digilocker or mParivahan app on phones. These apps will maintain all the records of licences disqualified or revoked, electronically.
6. Engage all guest teachers: Delhi government urges schools
The government of Delhi has asked all its schools to engage the services of all guest teachers who were appointed in the last academic session. “The heads of government schools were earlier authorized to call 50 percent teaching and non-teaching staff from September 21 for smooth running of teaching, learning and assessment activities, for online teaching and tele counselling and other related work,” Directorate of Education (DoE)’s official order stated.
7. 25% fee cut announced in Gujarat private schools if half of it is paid by October 31
As per the recent announcement by the Gujarat government, a 25 percent fee reduction has been applied in private schools for the current academic year for all boards. The schools have been directed to not charge any extra fee under the co-curricular activities. Considering that are parents who have already paid the full fees, the government has also asked the schools of such parents to reimburse the amount. All these instructions however come with a condition that parents have to pay 50 percent of the fees by October 31.
8. Chennai hires Spanish firm for its solid waste management
Spanish firm Urbaser Sumeet is all set to take over solid waste management of Chennai and aims to benefit 37 lakh people residing across seven zones of the city. The effective solid waste management has commenced today. The project will cover Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Adyar, Perungudi and Sholinganallur zones. Under this project, a 100% source segregation is expected to be achieved in all these zones in the coming year.

Due to the prolonged shutdown of Disney’s California-based theme parks and the meager amount of visitors even after its re-opening has left the company in losses to an extent where it has decided to lay off 28,000 employees across its parks, experiences and consumer products division.
