Singer David Bowie, one of the most influential musicians of his era, died of cancer on January 10 at the age of 69. We lost Prince, we lost Muhammad Ali, we lost Zsa Zsa Gabor, Leonard Cohen, Gene Wilder, and many, many more. Not forget George Michael right on Christmas Eve. The year just couldn’t end more badly!

Sushma Swaraj, India’s external affairs minister, ruled Twitter in 2016. Swaraj paid close attention to every request sent to her on the microblogging site and even rescued several Indians stuck abroad.

2016 will also be remembered for celebrity couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie calling it quits and breaking the hearts of fans. Former Jackass star Steve-O and celebrity tattooist Kat Von Dee broke up at the start of March this year after a three-month romance. It is unclear what led to the split but both immediately took to social media to delete their pictures together. In one of the other biggest celebrity breakups, Sharon and Ozz Osbourne called time on their relationship just shy of their 34th wedding anniversary.
