1. Online academic session of Delhi University to begin from August 10
The Delhi University has announced the commencement of its 2020-2021 academic session from August 10 with online classes. These online academic sessions are for the students who are in their third, fifth, and seventh semesters in the undergraduate and third semesters in postgraduate courses. Earlier, the Delhi University was to conduct open-book exams for final-year students from August 10.
2. VSSUT 1st Odisha varsity to publish final results after conducting exams online
The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla has published the final semester results of B.Tech and B.Arch and has become the first higher educational institute in Odisha to do so after carrying out the exams online. The results of the final semester online examinations were announced on Thursday, which were held between July 13 and July 18. With the announcement of the results, the university became the first public university in the state to conduct undergraduate final examinations online and publish the results in record time, said Atal Chaudhuri, VSSUT vice-chancellor.

NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Douglas Hurley are preparing to make their first splashdown return to Earth after 45 years. If the incoming hurricane in the US does grace, SpaceX’s Crew Dragon will undock from the International Space Station at 5:04 am IST on Sunday. It would make a water landing off the Florida coast at around 12:12 am IST on Monday.
4. US teen accused of being the “mastermind” of the recent hacks at Twitter, arrested
After the Twitter accounts of popular personalities were hacked, the US law enforcement authorities have arrested a 17-year-old Florida resident, who is accused of being the “mastermind” of the hacks. The US teen had allegedly somehow convinced a Twitter employee that he worked in Twitter’s IT department and tricked the employee into giving credentials. This way 19-year-old Mason Sheppard from the UK and 22-year-old Nima Fazeli too were charged for their alleged involvement.

Twitter, after revealing its plan of initiating a subscription model to generate additional revenue, is now exploring an “Undo Send” button among its options. To get a user feedback, Twitter conducted a survey asking users, which potential paid features would they be interested in, among ideas like “Custom Colours”. “Undo Send” would enable users a 30-second window to withdraw a Tweet before anyone can see it.

An Indonesian man recently shared a video of himself sitting and doing nothing for over two hours. The YouTube video which he titled, ‘2 hours of doing nothing,’ was posted by Muhammad Didit on July 10. He said that his viewers’ requests inspired him to record the video, which has now hit over 1.8 million views.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump said he was planning to sign an executive order and soon ban Chinese-owned short-video making app TikTok from the country. Trump said this aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington after a fundraising trip to Florida. He also mentioned his disagreement over a deal involving TikTok and Microsoft.
9. Astronomers capture the image of ‘space butterfly’
Astronomers have captured a picture of NGC 2899- a bubble of gas that resembles a butterfly, by using the European Southern Observatory’s (ESO) Very Large Telescope in northern Chile. The ‘space butterfly’ is situated between 3,000 and 6,500 light-years away in the Southern constellation of Vela. NGC 2899’s vast swathes of gas can reach temperatures of more than 10,000°C.
