Retaining pole position this year, the Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore emerged as the overall best educational institute in India. In the individual rankings, Miranda House, Delhi University emerged at the top. In the engineering category, IIT Madras was ranked number one for engineering whereas the Indian Institute of Management, Ahemadabad was ranked number one in the Management Category. National Law School of India University, Bangalore, was named best Law college in India.
Prakash Javadekar, the Human Resource and Development (HRD) minister released the rankings conducted by the National Institutes Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the Delhi. In 2015, the NIRF was approved and launched by the HRD Minister.
The rankings are made based on recommendations from a core committee set up by the HRD Ministry. Parameters such as teaching, learning, research, resources, graduation outcomes, professional practice, outreach, etc. Institutes have to register beforehand to be included in the NIRF rankings.
