MUMBAI UNIVERSITY OFFERS DIPLOMA IN RELIGION

  • The Mumbai University has introduced a diploma in religion and society, peace and dialogue to reduce religious and cultural differences between communities.
  • HSC finishers can enrol for the diploma to be offered at St Andrew’s College.
  • Other PG, undergraduate and diploma courses, including those in the field of media, were approved too.

XAT 2014 TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 5

  • The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2014 will be held on January 5 for which the registrations will start from August 12 and last until November 22, 2013.
  • The eligibility criterion is a three-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognised or deemed university.

ST. XAVIER’S TO TRAIN IAS ASPIRANTS

  • St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, will start coaching IAS aspirants from this August through a full-time course spread over nine months.
  • Eight subjects – commerce, economics, political science, international relations, sociology, statistics, history, management and physics – will be offered.

DU STUDENTS CAN NO LONGER STUDY CA AND COMMERCE TOGETHER

  • Since the duration of BCom has been increased by a year at the DU, students would be unable to pursue BCom and CA together.
  • This will greatly increase the number of years spent studying, leading to a wastage of precious time.
  • Students wanting to enrol for CA can instead consider other options like IP University, IGNOU and School of Open Learning.

ADMISSIONS OPEN AT NATIONAL P. G. COLLEGE, LUCKNOW

  • Admission forms at the National PG College, Lucknow will be available until June 15 between 10 am and 1 pm.
  • Admissions for UG courses will be done through entrance tests while for PG courses merit will be considered.

40% OF OUTSTATION STUDENTS IN KOTA UNDER CHRONIC STRESS

  • According to a study, conducted by the medicine department of Kota Government Medical College on around 200 students, both boys and girls aged between 16 and 19 years, 40% of outstation students suffer from high blood pressure and hypertension.
  • These students have apparently been under stress owing to homesickness and the pressure to crack entrance tests.
  • Yoga and healthy eating habits have been recommended by the research team to improve the students’ health.
