When people hear someone say he/she is studying engineering in Symbiosis, they go ‘ha! Symbiosis that MBA one, right?’ But little do they know that Symbiosis International University has campuses and institutes for almost all fields of studies, and yes including engineering! And just like other engineering colleges we conduct and host various events like sports days, cultural fests and most importantly, the annual Techfest.
Each branch, namely Computer Science/IT, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical and Civil Engineering host separate set of events targeted towards their branch. Capomaestro is the name of the Civil branch’s Techfest.
Every year, Civil Engineering Society of Symbiosis or in short, CESS prepares an amazing team through a free and fair process that will completely manage Capomaestro. Every year, they host various competitions in which students from all over Pune and nearby come to participate. But this year, due to the COVID pandemic, things went south.
But did they really? CESS saw this as an opportunity and turned this pandemic to their advantage! They decided to conduct the Techfest in completely online mode and put in double the efforts. They managed to gather participants from not only Maharashtra, but from all over India! Hosting a Techfest in online mode significantly increased their reach. They have received close to a thousand entries and registrations, breaking all previous records and are still receiving more!
The success of any big event like CAPOMAESTRO is only possible because of it’s sponsors. AIC Infrastructure being the title sponsor along with NB Infrastructures and Ashoka Construction Company has helped the events, grow to a next level! Also mentioning the media partners Youth incorporated, NoticeBard and Dare2Compete which are advertising all the events to a large audience.
- Holding technical events in online mode also posed major challenges, but rather than sit and complain, they managed to create new events like
- Open-Mic
- Poster Presentation
- Co-Rail
- and most importantly, Tech-Startup.
Every competition has a prize pool of INR 15000, then why is Tech-Startup the most important? Well, it has the most attractive incentives and prize money associated with it! Participants will be given a problem statement or a situation which they must solve using a start-up idea. The most interesting and sustainable ideas stand a chance to win funding too! Winners also get featured on the website and social media handles of CESS.
Before the main events on April 23rd and 24th, 2021 the CESS team has planned variety of fun events such as Treasure Hunt, Maze Mania, K.B.C and Replica having prize pool of INR 4500 to create excitement for thier audience.
To top all this and to give some relief and excitement to the team as well as others from outside, Capomaestro has organized a “Capomaestro Night” in which they will have standup comedians, Djs and many more fun events too.
