The Rashtrapati Bhavan has confirmed that President Murmu accepted the resignation and requested Modi and his ministers to continue in office until the new government has formed. 17th Lok Sabha’s term ended on June 16, making this transition a timely and crucial phase in India’s democratic process. The BJP, securing 240 seats, and the NDA coalition, with a clear majority in the 543-member house, formed the next government. The Congress, as the principal opposition party, won 99 seats. Key NDA leaders, including TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde, and LJP’s Chirag Paswan, deliberated on the formation of the new government.

CBI files final charge sheet in land for jobs scam involving Lalu Prasad Yadav
The CBI filed its final charge sheet on Friday in connection with land for jobs scam allegedly involving former railway minister Lalu Prasad and his family members. The final report submitted by the CBI in the special court covers all the railway zones where the recruitment was made in return for lands allegedly taken by members of Lalu Prasad’s family.

‘Is EVM dead or alive?’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday took a dig at the opposition INDIA bloc and said that when the results were declared he was concerned if the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were ‘dead or alive’ referring to the allegations of EVM rigging. He alleged that the opposition tried to blame the EVMs and thus weaken the Election Commission of India.
NDA government sparking over the key issues
The second week of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is expected to see a fiery start, with the Opposition MPs gearing up to attack the NDA government over key issues such as the irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and the Agnipath scheme, among others. In addition to the paper leak row and inflation, the opposition parties are also likely to raise issues regarding unemployment in India.
Om Birla as the Deputy Speaker
Om Birla was elected as the Lok Sabha Speaker on Wednesday after a motion moved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was adopted through voice votes. He said a discussion over NEET could not be allowed as the House was about to take up discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address. This sparked an uproar by opposition MPs. INDIA bloc leaders attacked the NDA over other issues like the Agnipath scheme, inflation and unemployment when the House reconvenes today. The opposition also demands a debate under Rule 267 of the Parliament on the NEET issue.
Motion of Thanks
BJP member and former Union minister Anurag Thakur is set to initiate the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address. The Motion will be seconded by first-term Lok Sabha member Bansuri Swaraj, the daughter of BJP stalwart late Sushma Swaraj. And in the lower house, 16 hours have been allocated to the discussion over the Motion of Thanks, which will conclude with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply on Tuesday. In the Rajya Sabha, 21 hours have been set aside for the same.
