Breakout character: Tobias Fünke – his sincere cluelessness makes for the best jokes
Recommended if: you like character-driven comedy; you like shows with meta-humour and continuous plots
Best season: Season 2

THE MIDDLE
A sitcom on a, you guessed it, dysfunctional family that struggles with the everyday-ness of middle-class, working America.
Breakout character: Sue Sue Heck – yes, that is her name. In spite of being the overlooked middle child, she is the most developed character
Recommended if: you like simple, realistic shows; you were once a fan of Full House
Best season: Season 3
