Shagun, World’s Largest Integrated Online Education Junction Launched

The HRD (Human Resource Development) Ministry of the Union Government has announced the launch of a school education portal named ‘Shagun’. The portal is said to aim to integrate an approximate of 2.3 lakh educational websites, link 15 lakh schools across the nation, connect around 92 lakh teachers and 26 crores, students. This portal will now enable students, teachers, and parents to access all information related to school education.

Sources state that the union HRD minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, said during the launch that “schools have been geo-tagged due to which all the data provided by them will be accessed through ‘Shagun’.” Talking about the security and accuracy of the information provided by the portal, the minister that the information and data provided by the schools will also undergo third-party verification. 

As reported by PTI, the schools and websites added to the ‘Shagun’ portal include 18,000 CBSE-affiliated schools, 30 SCERTs, 1,200 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 600 Navodaya Vidyalayas, 19,000 organizations affiliated with NCTE.

The minister, explaining the importance of improving the education quality its efficiency for the bright future of not just the upcoming generations but of the entire country, further said that Shagun will enable 15 schools all over the country, to upload reports cards of the students online on the newly developed junction. 

Shagun also has a vigorous feedback mechanism that will allow common people to give honest feedback about different schools. This will create awareness, provide information and also spark participation. 

With this launch, Shagun, an online school education portal has become the world’s largest Integrated Online Junction, confirmed the union HRD minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
