The winner was then decided on the basis of the number of boundaries scored in the match and in the super over. England emerged victorious as it had hit 22 fours and 2 sixes as compared to New Zealand’s 16 boundaries.

Being their first victory in the men’s cricket world cup, Eoin Morgan’s team and the entire nation was drenched with joy, happiness and pride. However, on the other hand, the team of New Zealand was dejected. Had they won the match, they too could have held the trophy for the first time. The boys though did give a tough competition and were equally deserving of the cup.

At the end of the match, both the teams appreciated the hard efforts put in by each player to win the match and said it was commendable. After emerging as the cricket world champions, the team garnered applause, love, congratulations and praises from all over the world.

England truly has become the cricket world champion. Two years back, the women’s cricket team had brought the 50-over women’s cricket world cup home. The men too hold the same title now.

It is interesting to note that, apart from winning the ICC Cricket World Cup of 2019, England has also previously won the Football World Cup and Rugby World Cup.
