Maya Angelou is an American poet and author who is well known for her works which include ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings’, ‘Gather Together in My Name’, ‘The Heart of a Woman’, and ‘A Song Flung Up to Heaven’.
Besides being an author and a poet, she was a singer, memoirist, and a prominent civil rights activist who took an active part in the civil rights movement along with Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. She is a woman who has tirelessly devoted her life fighting for the betterment of women and black people.
