The annual technical festival of K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Abhiyantriki is all set to take place on the 6th and 7th of October 2017. Abhiyantriki has over 35 events ranging from workshops, to competitions, to exhibitions. It hosts a variety of engineering disciplines, with an aim to provide a platform to attract and nurture talent in the fields of science and technology and has established itself as one of the premier technical festivals in Mumbai.

Abhiyantriki ’17 brings with itself another bundle of events filled with knowledge, technology, curiosity, and engineering. Right from pre-events, technical events, fun events, Expos, and scintillating Speaker and Panel Sessions, there’s something for everyone. This year, the festival will host exhibitions of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) & Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to showcase their contribution to the country and inspire students to take up jobs in the field of science research. There will also be an exhibition by Meteorological Department, Mumbai, and by the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Tech Expo.

Attendees can get inspired by the motivating speeches of illustrious personalities in the field of Science and Technology in the Session by Dr. R. Chidambaram and Dr. Abhas K. Mitra. Dr. R. Chidambaram, the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India is one of the most renowned scientists in the country. Dr. Abhas Kumar Mitra is the former Head of Theoretical Physics section at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai and has been awarded for his ground-breaking researches in theoretical physics, especially on black holes. Yahya Bootwala, an up and coming spoken-word poet will also perform at the festival.

The Panel Session at Abhiyantriki 2017 will host famous and relevant people from the industry, society, and government, to initiate an in-depth discussion on the topic of ‘Cashless Society’. Another Panel Session will be hosted on the topic of ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning’ where the discussion will cover these unique concepts which are developing at a very fast rate.

The Speed Cubing Mumbai Unlimited (SCMU)  Open 2017 was held as a pre-event from 1st to 3rd September 2017 to flag off Abhiyantriki 2017, and was graced by the Speed Cubing World Champion, Mats Valk. It saw a huge participation ranging from the age group of 6 to 30. Multiple and distinctive events of Cubing were held, including all 18 official events.

Among the other pre-events, the Virtual Reality and Gesture-controlled Robotics workshops take you into the world of user-friendly robotics.

CodeCell, the official Campus Chapter of Code Chef in KJSCE, also organises Codespree, which is a perfect platform to showcase your coding skills. In addition to Code-Spree, Codecell organises Crackathon and Hackathon, to encourage coding as a hobby. The KJSCE Campus Chapter of CSI (Computer Society of India) brings you 3 distinctive events, Code in X, Code Break, and Jumbled Code, all of which are deeply rooted in coding.

Various technical events are organised by Campus Chapters of global and national technical organisations such as, ‘Mumbai: Road to Development’ by IEEE , ‘Find a way or Fade Away’ and ‘ Command for the Catastrophe’ by EESA, ‘Car-O-bar’ and ‘Bring it down’ by MESA, ‘Ctrl+Shift+Esc’  by ISTE, and ‘The Maze Runner’ by IETE. Apart from this, there shall also be a Technical Paper Presentation competition organized jointly by IEEE and IETE.

For everyone with or without a technical interest, Abhiyantriki 2017 promises a plethora of fun events including Somaiya Crucible 3.0 by Mindbenders, Castle Math by Emfinity, FIFA Manager, Counter Strike, Tech Shield –  Quiz, Technovate and Green Campus, and finally, Laser Tag.

Tech Expo enables one to witness innovative technologies, designed by some brilliant minds that will leave you stunned. Tech Expo Projects at Abhiyantriki 2017 include S-hand, Staircase Climbing Wheelchair, Pratham Satellite, Water Control System, Puzzle Box orbit and 3D Printed Car,Futuristic Cars, and Multi utility Power. In ‘S-hand’, users are enabled to receive and make phone calls at the flick of their wrist. ‘Staircase Climbing Wheelchair’ incorporates ascending and descending of a wheelchair on stairs through a mobile app. ‘Pratham Satellite’ is the first satellite built under the student Satellite Program by IIT Bombay. Budding Innovators have come up with an automated and fully developed Water supply system and the ‘Water Control System’ can be easily managed by mobile apps. ‘The ‘Puzzle Box Orbit’ is a brain controlled helicopter and the brain controlled ‘3D Printed Car’ starts, stops and accelerates with user’s attention level. The exhibition of ‘Futuristic Cars’ will help one gain insights into the advancements related to automobiles. To overcome the current power crisis in our society, ‘Multi Utility Power’ is an efficient prototype for power generation.
