XIM University (New Campus), Odisha, will be hosting its annual media conclave, Communiqué XIM University, on 29th January 2022. The event is organized by IlluminatiX, Media & PR Cell of XIM University, and has generated quite a buzz among the students. The theme for this year’s Communiqué is “Needs vs. Wants: A Media Dilemma.”

The power of information ought to be intimidating. Given the scale and reach of media today, it shoulders enormous responsibility walking down a slippery slope. Today, the press walks a tight rope balancing the sides of what the audience needs, social responsibility, and media ethics versus what the audience wants and what sells. The theme highlights the difference between the information people need to consume and the information they wish to consume through different media sources. The event will witness the participation of various stakeholders of the Xavier fraternity, including faculty, management, and students from the diverse schools operating under XIM University and stalwarts from the media industry.

XIM University (New Campus), Odisha, promotes intellectually stimulating discussion over pertinent topics and tries to fulfil the educational potential of conclaves by allowing candidates to engage with their peers and industry experts actively. “Communiqué: The Annual Media Conclave” is an Annual Media Conclave amongst the vast array of conclaves hosted by the University. It acts as a communication channel between the students and the pioneers of the professional world.

The conclave will witness four prominent speakers:

  1. Mr. Gurbir Singh: Mr. Gurbir Singh is an award-winning senior journalist with over 40 years of experience in this profession. He started working for BusinessWorld in 2007 as a lead writer and rose to become the Magazine’s Executive Editor.
  2. Mr.B.V. Rao: Mr. B.V. Rao began his career with Delhi Mid-Day in 1985, and since then, he has worked across all leading media houses like The Times Group, Express Group, Zee News, and India Today Group.
  3. Mr. Nikhil Chandwani: Nikhil Chandwani is the Co-Founder of NYK DAILY (nykdaily.com), a global news platform that attracts over 2 million monthly readers from around the world. Mr. Nikhil is also an author of 14 books which are translated in six languages, a TED(x) speaker and Chairman of Writers’ Rescue Centre. He is one of the most followed ‘long-form’ writer on Instagram (@nikhilchandwani) and his articles on history, spirituality, religion, news and his short stories and poetries are globally read and shared. He is also a columnist with Times of Israel, Times of India, and Entrepreneur.com
  4. Ms. Arushi Sana: Arushi Sana is the co-founder of NYK Daily, a global news company that attracts over 3 Million monthly readers on their website globally. Their App has over 2,00,000 downloads on Playstore/iOS and features content from 50 journalists and writers. Arushi is also a speaker and trainer for students and professors at forums such as Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Centre (APSSDC), IMT, KC, and more. Additionally, she has been a mentor under the Writers Rescue Centre Foundation for the last three years for women suffering from unstable mental health.
