Take Just One Step Forward To Go Green. Plant A Tree

Under the able leadership of Principal Prof. Anna Pratima Nikalje and Vice Principal/ SFC Coordinator Dr. Zuleika Homavazir of Wilson College, the students of the  BMS Department are taking strong and meaningful steps towards greener change in society. This is their 12th year of their CSR- HOPE INITIATIVE, founded by Dr. Zuleika Homavazir. This year all efforts are undertaken towards creating a Green India. The students will celebrate the essence of Van Mahotsav, an initiative of the Government of India (Forest Ministry), celebrated from 1st July 2019 to 7th July 2019 focusing on the sensitive issue of deforestation and trying to create a positive impact in the society.

The BMS students have coined #JOSHISGREEN challenge to take place from 1st July to 7th July. The challenge will have people across the country being challenged to plant at least one tree in their vicinity and after completing the change, he/she will challenge two other people to plant their respective trees in the neighborhood.

On 2nd -3rd July, Free plant sapling were distributed to Heads of Institutions  across the city including Wilson High School, St. Columba School, GD Somani Memorial School, Dunnes Institute, Sir JJ School of Arts, St. Anne’s High School, St. Agnes High School, etc who will, in turn, will partake in creating a greener India by encouraging students of their respective Institutions to plant at least one tree. Stalls distributing saplings had been set up on 5th July for students with the help of the Forest Department, under the guidance of Division Forest Officer(DFO) – ACF Lachke of LRP, Thane. Students from Educational Institutions across the state have been encouraged to be part of the Green Army, Government of India.

On 9th July, students from the BMS, BMM, BAF, Bsc.IT department of Wilson College will plant over 1200 saplings at Rabale area with a vision of creating a healthier and happier tomorrow for generations to come.
This initiative has been supported by RJ Pritam Pyaare, Feroz S. Khan, Parul Chaudhary, and RJ Malishka to name a few.
