State Requests Schools To Apply For International Curriculum

The State has requested around 100 schools to be part of its pilot to provide an international curriculum. A government resolution said that the state will select the schools on the basis of certain criteria.

After that is done, the State will shortlist teachers for the first 10 schools, which Mumbai and Pune will not be a part of. “Since there are model schools in these cities, they can be used as guides and benchmarks for other schools”, a statement in the GR said. These schools will be provided training and assistance through machinery and a group of experts in the international curriculum.

The shortlisted schools will need at least 300 students in class I-V and a total capacity of 1,000 students. Teacher appointments will be done through workshops. The 100 schools will compete at international learning level tests like the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in March 2021 and 2022.

The project is a part of the State’s plan to launch its own wing of an international board to provide curriculum on par with the best international schools in the city. Only government-level schools providing education in regional languages will be selected.
