1. NITI Aayog CEO says India can become AI laboratory of the world

Amitabh Kant, the CEO of NITI Aayog mentioned that India has data and innovation capabilities to become the Artificial Laboratory of the world. He added that it can help transform lives at a press conference for the upcoming summit on AI, ‘RAISE 2020’. The summit can be the beginning for India to transform into data-driven society.

2. Bhim Army chief, Azad demands ‘Y’ security for Hathras victim’s family

On Sunday, Azad demanded a time-bound inquiry by a retired judge of the Supreme Court for the Hathras incident. At first, he was restricted from meeting the family. The family is living with fear and insecurity and he has demanded heavy security measures to be taken for them.

3. Terrorists open fire in J&K, 2 CRPF jawans martyred, 3 injured

Terrorists opened fire at a patrolling party in Pampore in south Kashmir during which two personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were martyred and three were injured . All the injured were immediately taken to the district hospital where two succumbed to their injuries and breathed their last. The other 3 injured are undergoing treatment. This attack took place today at around 12:30pm while the police and jawans were on their duty. 

4. DU cut offs will be released by Oct 10

DU will announce their first cut-offs for under graduate courses by Oct 10. The entire admission process will be online. The last day to submit fees and choose their colleges and courses will be Oct 16. An online webinar will be held to help students calculate their cut-offs.  

5. 27 students attending school in Andhra Pradesh test COVID +ve

Around 27 students from grades 9 and 10 have contacted COVID. The schools had been opened partially around two weeks ago for students who had to clear their doubts. The parents of these students will be tested too. Authorities will now shut down schools for two weeks. 

6. Sonu Sood installs mobile tower in Haryana for students to access online classes

Sonu Sood along with his friend installed mobile towers for students struggling for online access in a Haryana village. The duo was tagged in a video of a child sitting on a tree to catch radio signals on Twitter and they decided to install mobile towers with the help of Airtel and Indus towers.   

7. 7th generation iPod Nano declared as vintage by Apple

Apple added the product to the Vintage and Obsolete Products list as it has not been sold in more than 5 years. It can still receive hardware repairs until it reaches the seven year mark and is considered “obsolete” after which it is not eligible for repairs. It does not run iOS and many people used it as a smartwatch. 

8. JNU entrance exam commences, over 2 lakh candidates to appear

The computer based entrance exam for JNU commences on Oct 5. Tests for 101 streams will be conducted from Oct 5-8. The NTA has taken great measures to ensure that there is no cheating. Live CCTV surveillance has been installed and 1,600 jammers per shift  have been placed. 

9. Shane Watson’s “prediction” tweet goes viral

A day before CSK won, Shane Watson tweeted, “The perfect game for CSK is coming”. On the day of the match, he scored 83 off 53 deliveries. This is the CSK’s second 10-wicket win in the entirety of IPL. 

10. Panic arises after slight tremors felt in Hyderabad

On Friday night, tremors were felt in Hyderabad and several residents continued to stay outside their homes on Saturday morning. The team of scientists stated that the tremors were mild and there was nothing to worry about. The tremors were of 1.5 magnitudes on the Richter Scale. It is believed that rains in the area could have caused these seismic developments.
