Indian startup’s satellite to carry Bhagavad Gita, PM Modi’s photo into space

SpaceKidz India, an Indian startup is soon to launch its Satish Dhawan Satellite on February 28 which will be carrying a copy of Bhagavad Gita, a photograph of PM Narendra Modi, and the names of 25,000 individuals into space, said Dr Srimathy Kesan, Founder and CEO of the startup. SpaceKidz India is an organization that works towards promoting space science among students.

Delhi Metro likely to introduce cashless & touchless ticketing system 

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is soon going to launch a cashless payment system to make the entire ticketing process contactless for commuters. The DMRC is interested to upgrade the existing Automatic Fare Collection system by enabling QR code, bank account, and RuPay based ticketing. Till now the Airport Express Line Metro is the only one to have a mobile-based ticketing system in place.

Sonu Sood to share the unemployment load by distributing e-rickshaws 

Bollywood Actor Sonu Sood who was very helpful in helping migrants during the COVID-19 lockdown has now decided to distribute electronic rickshaws to help the government in reducing unemployment. The actor said, “I want people to be self-reliant so that…they earn their own living.” Sood further added, “After the pandemic, it became…difficult for many people to maintain their employment. E-rickshaws are a good way to help them.” The distribution has started from the actor’s hometown Moga, in Punjab.

FIR filed against Yuvraj for making a casteist remark on Chahal during a live chat

An FIR has been filed against former India all-rounder cricketer Yuvraj Singh in Haryana for allegedly making a ‘casteist remark’ on Yuzvendra Chahal while speaking on an Instagram live chat with Indian batsman Rohit Sharma. The remark that Singh made has a taste of disrespect for the Dalit community. Yuvraj had later also posted an apology later on social media.

US President Biden to discuss pandemic, world economy, China during G7 meet

In the virtual Group of Seven (G7) industrialised nations’ meeting that is soon going to be held, the US President Joe Biden will be discussing the COVID-19 pandemic, world economy and dealing with China during, the White House informed. It also stated that the president will also focus on the global response to the production and distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. The US, Canada, UK, Japan, France, Germany, and Italy are the nations that make up the G7 

Six elephants succumb to bacterial disease in a sanctuary Odisha 

Around six elephants have are said to have succumbed to hemorrhagic septicemia in the past two weeks in Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary situated in Odisha. The bacterial disease that claimed the lives of these elephants is said to majorly affects water buffaloes and cattle in tropical areas of southeast Asia. “We’ve separated the other elephants and started vaccination of livestock across the four-five villages of the sanctuary. We’ve also disinfected the water bodies,” a forest official stated.

Detention of Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s ousted leader extended until Feb 17

Myanmar’s ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s detention has been further extended until February 17, which otherwise would have ended today. The leader has been kept under house arrest on the charges of possessing unregistered imported walkie-talkies. The detention comes right amidst the widespread protests in the country, demanding Suu Kyi’s release and the restoration of the people’s government.

Nodal officers from Delhi withdrawn by CRPF after law and order situation improves

The nodal officers deployed in Delhi have been withdrawn by CRPF after the law and order situation improved. To maintain the law and order situation, the officers were placed on January 26th after the violence erupted during the farmers’ protests. The Delhi Police had requested for paramilitary forces to control the mob situation on the ground.

Skaters enjoy skating on Amsterdam canal after it freezes for 1st time in 3 yrs

A section of Amsterdam’s historic Prinsengracht canal was frozen for the 1st time after 2018. Skaters took full opportunity of this rare event and staked to their heart’s content on this frozen surface of the canal. People also treaded on a small stretch of ice between two bridges close to the landmark Westerkerk.
