As Bharat Biotech is coming closer to making its COVID-19 vaccine — Covaxin available by February, the first vaccine to be made available in India, the government has begun finalizing the vaccine delivery procedure and identifying the priority groups that will receive the vaccine first The government has decided to provide the vaccine to a total of 30 crore people in the initial phase. These 30 cr people have been divided into 4 categories which include 1 crore healthcare professionals, 2 crore frontline workers, 26 crore people above the age of 50, and 1 crore belong to the special category. Vaccines administration to these groups will be free of cost.
India, today, sent its first space mission of 2020 by launching EOS-01, an earth observation satellite. EOS-01, along with nine satellites from foreign countries, was launched by a PSLV rocket this afternoon. This is ISRO’s first mission of the year. The satellite EOS-01 is another Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT) that will work with RISAT-2B and RISAT-2BR1 launched last year.
Delhi HC told The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been directed by the Delhi High Court to reserve 5% of the total admission for persons with disabilities (PWDs). This came when the court was hearing a PIL alleging that JNU has reserved less than 5% seats for PWDs in the academic session 2020-21.
Delhi government has nodded for the prosecution of former JNU student leader Umar Khalid and PhD scholar at the varsity, Sharjeel Imam in connection with a case related to the communal violence that broke out in the month of February in northeast Delhi. Mammals, birds and amphibians globally could lose 23% of their natural habitat range as a damaging of climate change by 2100, the University of Cambridge has said. A study conducted by the university revealed that the species have lost an average of 18% of their natural habitat. Vishwajit Rane, Health Minister of Goa, has said that anything can be organized as long as there are stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place while speaking about the Sunburn Festival to be conducted in Goa. “Anything can be organised as long as there are stringent SOPs in place. These SOPs are managed by respective collectors and properly monitored. It is necessary to have stringent SOPs,” the minister said. He emphasized that the COVID-19 cases in the state have come down.
