Life is entirely what you perceive it to be. Happy, unhappy, cherishable, boring, the entire process and outcome of looking at things is the result of how life is for us. The current status of our lives is the result of what decisions we have taken from the start till now. Life is a very small portion of what happens to us but a large portion of how we react to it. It is not something to be defined as a scientific or philosophical definition, it is much more than that.
Whether I am a free bird or a restricted one, it depends on no one else but me. Where our lives are right now, how our relationships are with anyone, everything is ‘directly proportional’ to how much we are working to maintaining or changing it. A single thought or belief can change the entire world around us. We can not hold onto the outer stimulus or the expression, but we can definitely control the feeling within and the impression. The mind is an epitome of the life that we are leading, so we need to learn to mold it in such a way that we absorb all the optimism from it and try to let go of the pessimism that it may try to glue on us by working towards it on a daily basis. Things turn out best for people who make the best out of the way things turn out.
Life is not about the mistakes that we commit. It is about getting up after falling down every time without losing hope. As were Jug’s words in Dear Zindagi, ‘Don’t let the past blackmail your present to ruin a beautiful future’. It is the greatest will to live that writes the anecdotes of cancer survivors. Maya Angelou said, ‘You may encounter many defeats but you must not be defeated’.
If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise. – Robert Fritz
It has been proved time and again that those who create history do not achieve because of luck, it’s purely their hard work that has made their lives the exact way they visualized it. The first name that comes to my mind is Dhirubhai Ambani. He was a son of a school teacher who made sure to work so hard each day to not live the life his parents did and rose from living in a one-bedroom chawl to being such a big Indian Industrialist. Another legendary figure was Walt Disney. He was rejected 302 times for his first idea of Mickey Mouse as the bankers thought that his idea was absurd. He is a perfect example of the person who didn’t let the rejections come in his way of bringing his beautiful imagination of nature and animation in front of the entire world. Imagine your childhood without Aladdin, The Lion King, The Beauty & the Beast! Such figures determine the fact that only determination, hard work and love for your work can change your life.
We are the masters of our own fate. Life is a gift and to lead it the way we want it to be, we need to be proactive, both physically and mentally and ensure that we are ‘living’ our life and not just ‘surviving’. No doubt life is a mixture of ups and downs, highs and lows but that is what we’re talking about. Make sure to endure the highs and maintain hope and stability in the lows.
Self-affirm yourself every day with the following –
Don’t waste your time living the life of others. Be your own self, regardless of what others think. Don’t believe everything you see. Make sure to ask yourself certain important questions before believing something completely. Make sure that you’re satisfied each day before going to bed. The thing that makes you something from nothing is ‘work’. Squeeze the best out of each day.
