Promoting Culture Through Education: Pearl Academy Joins Hands With ICW 2022

It is well-established that education and culture are intertwined. One is incomplete without the other. It is through education that we understand various cultures and learn to live by the culture and values accordingly. It’s necessary for educational institutions to understand the importance of combining education with culture for students’ holistic development. Pearl Academy, India’s leading creative education institution has collaborated with India Craft Week 2022, taking the same thought into consideration.

India Craft Week is India’s first official craft week, globally known amongst other major

craft weeks such as London Craft Week, Sydney Craft Week, China Craft Week, and Korea Craft Week. Its main focus is promoting culture and heritage.

Pearl Academy has joined hands with ICW 2022 as its knowledge partner for the fourth iteration of its annual event. The India Craft Week annual event is conducted to celebrate, empower and enrich the livelihood of Indian artisans and craftspersons. The event was inaugurated by U P Singh, Secretary, Textiles, Govt of India.

Pearl Academy, as per many reputed and credible industry surveys like ASSOCHAM, India Today- MDRA, Outlook-Drishti & I-CARE, The Week- Hansa, Business of Fashion, and The Economic Times, is India’s leading creative education institution. It offers more than 40+ UG, PG and development courses in the field of design, fashion, business, and media.

Through this collaboration, Pearl Academy sought to highlight the relationship between culture and education. It aimed at integrating culture, and its history within education modules to further sharpen the young creative minds of the country.

As reported by The Print, Antonio Maurizio Grioli, Dean, of the School of Fashion & Design, Pearl Academy, commenting on the collaboration said, “At Pearl Academy, we encourage students to truly understand design through experience. We position them to inspect the intersection of tradition and modern design through first-hand experience.”

On the first day of India Craft Week exhibited creative works conveying the importance of traditional crafts in the modern design process. It displayed the works of students who spent considerable time in researching and documenting the different kinds of traditional Indian crafts.

Further, the event also held panel discussions on the ‘Role of traditional crafts in Modern Interiors and Architecture’ involving the participation of industry stalwarts like Shri UP Singh – Secretary Textiles, Govt. of India, Asha Sairam – Principal Studio Lotus, Sanjay Nigam – Founder, India Fashion Awards, and many more.

The four-day event was attended by a number of homegrown and international brands, institutions, designers, craftspersons, and artisans.
