Youth And The Trend Of Spirituality: A Sneak Peek

Almost 2 out of every 3 Instagram reels or YouTube shorts can be found to be associated with culture, religion or even specifically with spirituality. Well, it’s enticing to come across younger men and women and even teens enjoying dancing and singing to some soulful bhajan or devotional music. It’s quite intriguing and a drastic change of scene to witness the rising youth increasingly rejoicing in the culture and traditions of the country apart from chilling at a nightclub or partying with peers.

Reports of more and more people visiting religious destinations like the holy lands of Vrindavan and Varanasi are flashing on the news each day. Holiday travel destinations have shifted from Goa and Manali to Vrindavan, Kashi and Kedarnath. Groups of friends are going on vacation trips to temples and holy locations. Messages are being spread across social media to take refuge in spirituality and the divine at times of uncertainty and dilemma, to read the sacred holy texts: the Gita and the Mahabharata and to find answers to the questions of life and existence.

The wave of spirituality has travelled all across the globe, from Bharat to the neighbouring countries of Japan, China, Pakistan and even to the European nations. Tourists visit India on a mass scale almost every month to witness and experience the divinity and the seraphic essence dwelling in the air of ancient Bharat.

The highly practical and realistic teachings of the reverent sages and Muni-Rishis from ages ago have been brought back to life with the youth actively seeking interest in discovering and studying the invaluable past and rich heritage of our country. People of diverse faiths and beliefs have found healing and calm in practising spiritualism and its prescribed remedies to get away and soothe themselves from the frantic rollercoaster of a busy and worrisome lifestyle.

Relief which could not be gained from sitting in AC rooms and wearing branded apparel, is now slowly being attained by reading a few lines from the holy texts or visiting a sacred shrine or a temple. Questions about the most seemingly complex and incomprehensible problems of life can be easily traced by reading through the lines of the Gita

Materialism had put a veil on our thinking for so long thereby gearing our senses towards achieving instant gratification, failing to achieve it we would be obliged to consider ourselves a failure in life. Rather than being satisfied with that which is available to us, we are mindlessly hankering after the unattainable and the worthless just to pleasure our senses. Spiritualism teaches us to practice minimalism and carry out our duties and obligations without being attached to the outcome of our actions, hence leaving no room for any unprecedented doubt or worry. Spiritualism conveys the message to live and let live, making the earth a better place to be in, a harmonious existence for all species.

People whose minds have been clouded with unwanted thoughts and confusion have been able to find peace and a new direction in their lives by practising spiritualism. However, it is up to us how we utilize this discipline to elevate our lives to a better and more peaceful condition. It should never be about false exhibits just to gain attention and spotlight rather the in-depth meaning and the significance of practising spiritualism should be carefully analysed and understood and then inculcated accordingly for the greater good of mankind and the world in general. Spiritualism is a way of life, it should not be confused with religion. The former is the truth while the latter is just a belief. Beliefs can be many but the truth is inevitably one.

Rumpi Chowdhury

Hi World!! I am Rumpi, an average girl with a bagful of dreams. To feel all the colours of emotion and to write about them is something I am always ever ready to do. I strongly believe in , "If you have an idea then do share it with others" and I write primarily to convey my thoughts as I believe through capturing our thoughts in writing, it can be preserved better through the constraints of time. Almost every other aspect of life is equally enticing to me and I write about everything , be it something as sensitive as women and their role in society or as funny as our carefree childhood memories. Happy reading!!
