Van Mahotsav week is celebrated across the nation from July 1 to July 7 every year. As a part of the initiative, 62 students from Grade 9 of VIBGYOR High Malad school planted around 100 saplings at Chhota Kashmir in Aarey colony in order to further nurture the green patch of the city.
The school has been taking various initiatives to educate and connect their students to the environment. In the past as well, the school along with their students had participated in the Save Aarey campaign and this event is an extension towards the cause, while celebrating Van Mahotsav week. The school also plans to conduct various workshops in the school as well as show documentaries to students, enhancing their concern and belongingness towards nature.
Commenting on the occasion, Ms. Sunita George, Principal, VIBGYOR High said, “The school organizes various programs to develop environmental sensitivity in children. Plantation drive is one of the many such initiatives. The school also has a natures club. The members of this club take up small projects that spread awareness about conservation of resources.”
