India: To be part of this you need to pass class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Math (PCB/PCMB) from a recognized board. Along with a minimum number of marks around 50%. One must also give entrance exams like NEET or MHT – CET.
Abroad: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant science field, such as biology, chemistry, or biochemistry. A minimum GPA and an English language proficiency scores such as IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Duolingo, etc. Other applications may include application forms, statement of purpose, CV, Receipt of application, passport copy, etc. Other eligibility and requirements depends on the universities and its requirements.
Masters Of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) – It is a postgraduate degree that focuses on advanced topics like drug research, quality control and pharmaceutical management. The Masters Degree can go for two years or beyond that depending on the University. The syllabus mainly includes theoretical lectures, hands-on laboratory practices, medicinal chemistry, etc which has subjects like Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Medicinal chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Clinical pharmacy, Pharmaceutical analysis, Regulatory affairs, Biochemistry, and Quality management.
One can also learn skills in drug development, design, delivery, and formulation. You’ll typically need an undergraduate background in a field like biology or medicine. In India, you’ll usually need to have graduated from a Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)-approved college with over 50% marks in your Bachelor of Pharmacy. You can also work by doing part time jobs and internships during this study in places like healthcare centers, medical stores, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies and more.
India: In India the students must have a bachelors degree approved by the Pharmacy Council Of India (PTI). Also, a minimum percentage of 50% marks as per governments requirements. Some universities may conduct an entrance exam for students or interview rounds alongside group discussion sessions. Citizens of other countries who at any time held an Indian Passport are eligible to attend the masters program in India.
Abroad: A student will have to present a bachelors degree in pharmacy such as biology, chemistry, or biochemistry. A proof of English level proficiency like TOEFL or IELTS score. A letter of recommendation and statement of purpose is needed. Also, a GRE score of 150 is mandatory in both verbal as well as quantitative reasoning. After studying a masters degree abroad students may be able to attain a post study work permit.
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) – The Doctor of Pharmacy degree is a professional doctorate program that focuses on clinical practice, patient care, and direct involvement in healthcare settings. This study is of 6 years of duration which consists of 5 years of study and one year of internship. Pharm D students in this field work alongside doctors and healthcare teams to provide safe use of medication for patients. After completion of the Pharm D course students can gain job roles in Clinical pharmacists, Hospital Pharmacy Directors, Drug regulatory Authority jobs in government sectors and more.
India: To take admission in colleges for Doctor Of Pharmacy, colleges may ask for entrance exams like TS EAMCET (Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test), AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test), GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) and NEET ((National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). Completion of class 12th exam is mandatory from any state/national board. The student must have studied Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and additional subjects like Maths and Biology.
Abroad: The course takes 6 years for completion. Eligibility requirements depends upon colleges, but most suggest taking the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEC) and completing the requirements of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
