A relationship isn’t easy to maintain, and often, people go their separate ways when the monotony kicks in. Whether you’ve been in a relationship for months or for years, it is of utmost importance to keep the relationship alive with romantic gestures and sweet nothings. Here are some tips to do just that –
There’s nothing better than letting your partner know that you’re thinking of them. However, this doesn’t mean that you constantly have to ask them what they’re doing every minute of the day. Casually drop in a message asking them how they’re doing, or check whether they’ve reached home safely after a late night. You may be spending hours together in a day, but on days when you are apart, it is important to check in on them, and it sends out a signal that you care about making this relationship work.
It’s hard not to document your life and daily activities on social media, and there isn’t anyone who hasn’t. But too often, we get so caught up capturing a memory than actually living it. You don’t have to have pictures with your partner splashed on your social networking sites, or live updates of your times together. Instead, keep your phones aside and truly live in the moment. Limit yourself to just one picture for the night, and use your phones only if necessary.
Get out of town once in a while and indulge in your inner adrenaline junkie. There are a number of services that offer activities such as rappelling, rock-climbing, kayaking, rafting, and more. You can also plan a trek over the weekend, that will lead you to a scenic spot where you and your partner can soak in nature’s goodness. If you’re not in the mood for some heavy physical activity, you can also take workshops together, or learn a new hobby.
What’s not to love about dates! The excitement, the suspense, the outfit-planning and just being with your partner. You don’t need grand gestures to keep the spark alive, a simple romantic night in town can very well suffice. Try setting aside one day in a week or two to rediscover the thrill of going on dates. And don’t forget – both of you should plans dates for the other.
You don’t have to spend elaborately on this, a bouquet of flowers for her, or a random gift for him can do the magic. Who doesn’t love a good surprise?! Write sweet notes to each other and hide them in places for the other to find. You don’t need something fancy to put a smile on each other’s face and let them know how lucky you are to have them in your life.
