Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known by his online alias PewDiePie is a Swedish producer of Let’s Play videos on YouTube.
On 15 August 2013, PewDiePie’s channel became the most subscribed channel on YouTube, which exceeded briefly in November and December 2013 by YouTube’s Spotlight channel, while holding on to his position since 22 December 2013, the channel has acquired over 37 million subscribers, as of June 2015. On 19 July 2014, the channel defeated RihanaVevo in the race to become the most viewed channel of all time. As of June 2015, the PewDiePie channel has received over 9 billion video views.
Due to his popularity, PewDiePie’s coverage of indie games has created an Oprah effect, where in their sales have been boosted, and he has raised money for charities through his “Bro Army” fanbase. PewDiePie calls his fans the ‘Bro Army’ .Aside from his online activities, PewDiePie has been featured in other forms of media.
The main focus of the videos he posts, is his commentary and reactions to various games( especially of horror and action genre) as he plays through them.
After seeing so many articles floating around in the past week about the reported 7.4 million dollars he allegedly made on Youtube in 2014, he thought he had to give his response to a lot of the hate he’s been getting recently because of all the money he made in the past year. So he made a video responding to all the hate that he received.
His viewpoint is that all the money he makes isn’t as important to him as much as he likes to make all these videos that he always wanted to make since he was a college student. This might seem like a statement that is pretty easy to make if you’re wealthy, but it’s at this point in the video that Pewdiepie starts talking about his early days.
There was a time when he even he had trouble paying rent and couldn’t afford to buy his own computer so it’s not as if he doesn’t know where people are coming from, too. He knows what it’s like to be poor because he’s been through that phase and has made his way through to the top.
People have sent in hate saying that there are people who are funnier than him and probably deserve more.
He has a kickass response to this, he says “If you think someone’s funnier, go refresh their videos over and over, because that’s how we get paid”
Responding to critics, he posted: “I still spent far more money on charities than anything I’ve ever spent for myself.”
For becoming popular people should see something special in you which doesn’t happen for everyone.
PewDiePie then goes on to read a few specific comments he saw people making which are quite funny.
He explain what’s cool about YouTube is that anyone could technically do it .If he probably hadn’t existed there would have been someone else instead of him. Then Pewdiepie goes ahead and actually encourages the commenter to try the whole YouTube thing out, because who knows? Maybe he could be popular too.
He says that life isn’t fair, but also encourages people to support the entertainers they believe in, because that’s the only way those content creators will get paid.
It’s harder to gripe about Pewdiepie using money for good. It’s also pretty easy to forget just how much work the entire YouTube thing really takes.Really, you people should watch it for once.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of his videos, but I’ve never understood the hate people have for him. This guy found huge success doing something he loves. Enough people are willing to watch him do his thing to afford him a more than comfortable lifestyle. How can anyone not respect that?
Every single celebrity deserves all of the money and fame they get.
Do you know why? Because you pay them. You watch their movies, their tv shows or their youtube channels because people watch them, and hence earn money that way . Even though you do not like watching them, you are helping them get paid. That along with their fans. It’s all earned. That’s how people earn things, they do what appeals to people and are compensated thus.
And if you don’t watch them? Then you just aren’t the audience. You shouldn’t be a part of this conversation, go about your life and stop getting pissed that other people have different tastes. Even if the jokes are lame no one is harmed, so get over it.
I’m actually glad this guy has found success doing what he does even if it looks stupid because let’s face the truth, we all wanna earn money doing something we love.
