The Indian Youth Is Rapping Their Hearts Out With Rap Music

Eminem, Jay Z, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, The Weekend, are artists who are known as the rap gods. The youngsters of the world have been crazy about them since the very beginning.

This scenario, however, has been slightly different in India. Earlier there were just a few who were exposed to the music of these rappers, but Indian rappers like Yo Yo Honey Singh, Baadshah, Hard Kaur, Divine, Naezy, and many more made this form of music popular among young Indians.

Even though Baba Sehgal is known to have brought rap in the country, we cannot deny that the release of Gully Boy truly turned the fever of rap music on, in India.  Moreover, a blockbusting collaboration of Ranveer Singh, Divine and Naezy, took rap music to a freakishly crazy level.

The reasons behind why the young hearts love rap music so much is simple.

Relatable Lyrics

The youth like you and me is hot-blooded. We have the zeal to accomplish big things in life. What better motivation can we get than from lyrics like “Uth ja apni raakh se, Tu udd ja ab talaash mein, Parwaaz dekh parwaane ki, Aasmaan bhi sar uthayega, Aayega, apna time aayega”. Besides, since the rap songs are created by young individuals themselves, the feelings, thoughts and opinions of the youth match with the lyrics of the song. So when you sing the rap songs, you feel like you are singing your story.

Fun to Sing

Rhythm and beats are the main things in rap music. The other technicalities which are usually found in other genres of music are eliminated. Additionally, the fast-paced nature in which a rap song is sung is mere fun. Although singing rap is not easy, we all love to attempt it. Who would like to do a Cardi B or Nicki Minaj?

Breaks The Cliche Of Romance

Sure we all love to hum Arijit Singh’s songs that overflow with romance, but at times love and romance get to the nerves. Rap music has broken the cliched romance to bits and the youngsters seem to have graciously welcomed it. Now, instead of singing Channa Mereya, we all prefer to sing “Blue Eyes Hypnotise Teri Karti Hai Mainu”

It’s Cool

Tell me something cooler than “She say, “Do you love me?” I tell her, “Only partly”

I only love my bed and my momma, I’m sorry”, I’ll wait. Rap music has the ultimate level of sass and we all love to be sassy. Those eyes blinding huge gold chains, neon loose jersey and pants, big black shades are what love to see on the rap artists, only because they look so cool.

Newest Form Of Expressing

While many are of the opinion that rap songs involve filthy wordings which is, in fact true, rap also brings to the forefront of social evils that require attention.  It is how the Indian youth has recently started voicing their opinions and feelings on important issues and concerns of the new age world. Triggering lyrics like “Haan bahut baithe chup chaap, Kya ghante ka insaaf, Desh kaise hoga saaf, Inki neeyat mein hai daag, Sirf karte rahenge baat, Alag shakal wohi jaat, Vote milne par yeh khaas, Phir gayab poore saal” shows the true image of of Indian politics and elections.

The youth has thus got its own form of music to which they connect the most. Looking at the popularity of rap music in our country, it’s quite clear that this music genre has arrived to stay for a long long time and strike the young hearts’ chords.
