Shweta Ratanpura 1st Indian Woman To Win At WorldSkills Event 2019

India’s daughters continue to make the nation pride by becoming the ‘firsts’ in varied fields, as yet again, one more of the daughter named Shweta Ratanpura became the first ever Indian woman candidate to win a medal at the WorldSkills event, in Russia’s Kazan.

A graphic design student from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, Shweta Ratanpura won a bronze medal in the category of graphic designing, making the entire nation rejoice the victory.  

The WorldSkills event in an international skills organised every two years. It is the world’s biggest vocational education and skills excellence event. This year, a total of 1350 participants from 63 countries participated in the event.

The Indian contingent bagged 19 medals at this global competition which includes one gold, one silver, two bronze and 15 medals of excellence. This put India on the 13th position on an international level, as compared to its last time’s 19th position.

Apart from Shweta Ratanpura’s bronze victory, India won a gold medal in water technologies and a silver medal in web technologies. S Aswatha Narayana from Odisha took the gold while Pranav Nutalapati from Karnataka won silver. 

Welcoming the victory, the ministry of skills development made an official statement that stated, ‘Blazing a trail of glory for India at the global stage, the 48-member Indian team returned with the best-ever finish at the WorldSkills International Competition 2019 in Kazan, Russia by winning 19 medals and medallions of excellence.’
