The best new Food spots in town

Sancho’s Restaurante and Cantina, Mumbai
On a slow Mumbai night, when you are in the mood for some Tex Mex, this is as close as it can get. A kind of covered courtyard with ‘chilled out’ couch seating, and tables just about as distant as you’d like from each other. Soft lights from lamps over the ceiling and some music to go with, and you’re set. With cocktails to die for, the restaurant is almost always packed with foodies who enjoy their Margaritas and Fajitas alike. A must try are the Fiesta Nachos, to be shared by the table, just like nachos are intended to be. They have a wide variety, whether you are a vegetarian or a meat lover. So you have your choice of tacos and enchiladas along with a range of specials from the chef including Veracruz Fish and Habanero Tequila Jumbo Prawns. This place has some of the best churros I’ve had in Mumbai. Pinnacle House, Plot No 604, PD Hinduja Road, 15 Road, Khar West , Mumbai

Tselha-Anze (Our Grandma’s Recipe), Bangalore
A family-run traditional Tibetan restaurant where the owners prepare their grandmother’s recipes is my new favourite Tibetan place in Bangalore. Located near St Joseph’s College, this place is usually buzzing with college students. True to the Tibetan culture, the owners and staff are very friendly, helpful and serve the food quickly. A quirky trait is that you place your order by writing it down in the chit pad placed on your table and pass it to the waiter. They brag about their momos, and quite rightly so. Priced between `50– `70, the eight-piece portion is quite a steal. Try out the Tibetan Thali to get a taste of various preparations. Also sample their Thukpa and Gyanthuk. They also serve steamed bread called Ting Momo, an extremely tasty and healthy meal. Enjoy all these Tibetan delicacies with all the home-cooked delight of grandma’s recipes! 1, Cornwell Road, Langford Town, Bangalore

Elma’s Bakery, Cakes and Tea Room, Delhi
It rarely happens that a new bakery opens in town and I miss a visit. Like always I was one of the few to visit Elma’s just during its soft opening in Hauz Khas Village. This 20-cover bakery and tea room is furnished with British-style décor and adorned with a variety of tea cups. The place welcomes you to a pleasant aroma for fresh baked scones. One look at the display counter and you would want to eat all that it has to offer. I picked a Croissant sandwich with French-press coffee. The coffee was nothing exquisite, rather too runny but the croissant spoke highly of the chef’s skills. The other offerings include estate teas from Coonoor. Chef Shelly Sahay is a Le Cordon Bleu trained chef; the marvelous Apple Crumble Cheesecake, Scones and Lemon Meringue Tart reaffirms chef’s competency. One can pick up breads for home, their signature being the Bacon loaf. A must visit for the baked dishes and give beverages a skip. 24/1, first floor, Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi
